Well the time has finally arrived for me to buy me an Exige. I’ve found the perfect car and am just sorting out the details now.
Can anyone please recommend me a decent insurer? I got a quote of 1700 from AON and they refused me cover for trackdays because I am 28
So, the best quote I have is 1100 but there is no track day cover. This is with 6years no claims too!
Does anyone have any suggestions for insurance companies? Or does anyone know any good companies for 1 off track day insurance as I’m probably only going to be able to do 1 this year.
Thanks!
I would recommend THB Egger Lawson, who are a specialist Lotus and Caterham insurer. I’ve used them for the last two years and they have been great. They are very competitive with price and along with your policy you get 4 free track day insurances! www.eggerlawson.co.uk
I have the 111R, the exige and the F355 plus some other stuff insured through A-Plan. They dont do trackday cover but nobody else came close on quotes. They were also helpfull, knowledgeable and informative which was also a bit of a shocker.
i would say elephant.co.uk if you want cheap, as im 21 and they said 1600 (4yncb) for me on exige s… but no track days!
on that point, im going to nurburgring in may, do i need track insurance as best quote i got was 3500 for 4 days with 10000 excess… how crazy is that!

I would be surprised if your road insurance covers you on the Ring - even if it is a public road. Have you checked that it covers you for non UK Europe, anyway?
Thanks for all your suggestions, I tried Admiral and… WOW, 840 with protected noclaims, 750 excess but hey I’m not gunna crash it
I used to drive my VR6 on the ring when I lived in Luxembourg, normal road insurance is fine as it is classed as a public road, however if you crash you pay a fortune for any damage and recovery.
Alot of the Scottish guys use them. They are a broker and all their policies i believe are through a company called Markerstudy. Sadly no track cover but i dont bother with that anyway!
Cheers Ed

Was that with UK insurance or Lux insurance? In any event, I suggest that you double check that your UK policy automatically covers you for non UK Europe (because some don’t!), plus I’d get them to put it in writing that you are covered fully comp. for driving (after paying) on the Ring.

currently insured with elephant (cheap) they are happy for me to go anywhere in europe aside poland?? but inform me that “although the ring is a public road, we know its used for racing and so this is excluded from your cover”
i hate them, and its not worth changing companies mid policy!
is it better for me to drive the ring uninsured (cant afford 3500 for 4days!) or to go with friends as planned and just spectate?!?!?

That was with Lux insurance, but nothing special, just normal insurance from Zurich.
As long as the insurance covers europe you should be ok at the ring but some insurers do make it an exception so it is best to check.
