Also bear in mind that you won’t have third party cover either…
It was my understanding that because the Ring is a road, it means that insurers are obliged to cover you for third-party.
Its comprehensive cover that is the issue, and more insurers are building in clauses, stuff like excluding de-restricted toll roads from their polices.
The thing that is likely to cripple you in an accident (aside from the crash) are the circuit costs, I think its something like 1,500 per hour of track closure.
Hi,
No trackday cover is included. I dont think A-Plan offer it even as a seperate policy.
Cant recall the individual excess for each car off the top of my head but can look it out later if it is important. Agreed value policy on the exige S1 190 and F355 GTB. No agreed value on the 111R but it was insured with them from new in 2005. All 3 policies have limited milage clause of 6k. Full NCD on all policies, 40yr old, no points (incredibly!) and a rural postcode.
(For comparison they also insure my 05 MINI Cooper for around 180 and my Peugeot 406 estate for 120 but could not get within 200 of the renewal quote on a Toyota Hilux SUV and a Mitsubishi)
Edited to add… they charge me about 350ish each for the Elise and the Exige and less than 400 for the F355.
Please expand upon level of cover/excess, & which circuits are covered (ie UK only, or incl. Europe) - thanks in advance.
Admiral are good on price. Ive got the ‘S’ insured with them. for about the same (840 a year, fully comp). The only down side is that during office hours their call centre is in Wales (struggle to understand a word they say) and then after hours its in India, (not got a chance of understanding a word they say!!!)
They also charge admin fees on everything. Ie having a courtesy car whilst yours in for service/repair, costs 15 quid. When they send a letter out, this also seems to cost 15 quid!?!?
I’m currently looking around for quotes. A-plan are in the lead for me at the moment at 479.
Copy/paste/edit coming:
37yrs / Full NCD / Only me to drive because the missus has just stacked her SLK / value 25k / 8k miles per year / 500 excess / No trackday cover / garaged /rural postcode
25yrs / Full NCD / Only me to drive because i dont trust the lady/ value 25k / 10k miles per year / 500 excess / No trackday cover / driveway’d /rural postcode
You may find that the premium is less, if you also include her on the policy as a named driver - that is assuming she has a clean licence/no accidents Doesn’t mean that you have to let her drive it though! Statistically, women have fewer accidents, & if she’s “driving” you ain’t, so risk for insurer is reduced.
