IMPORTANT - Anglesey - Easter

Another terrific day and big thanks for Mr P for organising and worthy winner of the Con award.

Scary spin at Church when talent ran out.

Many thanks everyone for booking/enjoying/behaving yourselves :sunglasses:

Fantastic turnout, weather, company, laughs - we couldn’t heve wished for more!

Hope those few who experienced mechanical issues during the day, get them swiftly resolved.

As ever, we were very well looked after by Bookatrack, the instructors & of course the marshalls without whose attendance the day wouldn’t have existed.

I’m always gobsmacked by the effort so many of you make to get to Anglesey - just brilliant!

It was also lovely to have Con’s family join us again. Details of John’s incredible attempt to run 6 marathons in 6 consecutive days willl be posted shortly. Don’t forget, this event is being staged in the Sahara, & each competitor (lunatic?) has to carry all their own food, cooking equipment & sleeping bags!!! Good luck, John, we’ll all be thinking of you!

Once again, thanks for supporting the annual exiges.com Anglesey trackday

Here, here Rob. Great job on the organisation once again.

Unfortunately wasn’t the best day for me. Gearbox gave up the ghost during the first session of the day. Accelerating in 3rd out of the Bookatrack banking the gearbox went pop, or more accurately BANG, BANG, … BANG. Sorry for the resulting red flag.

Many thanks to all those with offers of help. Really can’t thank people enough, this is a great community, and sorry I was a little distracted and off hand at the time, hopefully you understand. Huge thanks to Steve and Martin for the loan of the trailer, and to Gary for getting me back to the hotel in Bangor.

AA did a great job in getting me back home. Arrived back at 10:30pm after travelling on 3 flatbeds.

Trying to be glass half full, so positives:
• Was great seeing everyone again, however briefly.
• Great banter of a few pints on the Thursday night.
• Weather was stunning.
• You get a fantastic view of Snowdonia from the cab of a flatbed.
• Got a refund for the second night in the hotel.
• Saved about 3 tanks of petrol, plus tyres etc.
• At least I didn’t bin it, nobody’s hurt and everything’s fixable.

I’ll start another thread to cover what’s gone wrong, and what I decide to do re fixing it.

Cheers
Will

Come back into the fold Will, I’m talking open arms

Awesome day, lovin the coastal circuit, ace layout and it really levels the field and reduces power advantage. Felt like we had a lot of stuff to chase down and plenty of laps in clear air without constantly catching or being catched. Did a LOT day at Bedford in Jan and we were breezing past all the elises and it’s nowhere near as much fun.

JDS as helpful as ever and cheers for the organisation Pesky , as trackdays go that’s one of the best I’ve done

As has been said, was an absolutely cracking day. I couldn’t believe the weather. Cheers Rob for sorting, and a big up to book a track for another well ran day. I can’t believe the difference a set of tyres make either, switched to gg compound 888’s from the standard a048 lts, and the understeer experienced last year had pretty much disapperared. I took a couple of pics up on the old track but not sure how to post em up.

Craig

yeah really felt for you will when I saw the car parked up off the line

At the risk of turning this into some sort of acceptance speech, a massive thanks to Unkle P for yet again organising the day. Thoroughly deserving of the Con McLaughlin memorial award.

Thanks to Jonny and all the team at Bookatrack, with a special mention to Stu (the man has the patience of a Saint).

Also a big thanks to Stephen and the guys at TrackGroup for ensuring I had a car on the day.

Always have a great time at Anglesey meeting up with friends/ old and new, both on track and off, there is something very special about the Exiges community.
Hope everyone got home ok and those with issues get them sorted.
Didn’t get many photos but will get them posted up on the other thread soon.

Y

Mr P & BAT well done! Fantastic day yet again, but JF I missed you as I’d offered you a drive in the S1, sorry mate.

Learned a lot & loved Tim’s Evora.

New meets & good to catch up with a whole bunch of you.

Mark

Cheers Mark. Tbh I was too bloody hungover but I did get my annual hug and kiss off Yvonne, Gary was nowhere to be seen

Re: Evo_Ufo
“sorry I was a little distracted and off hand at the time,”

Will, you were charm itself when I caught up with you in the garage.
If you were pissed off with my banal questions, it certainly didn’t show.
Glad you got home ok.
Hope all is sorted to your satisfaction as soon as poss.

PS: in my earlier post I neglected to thank Pesky and Bookatrack for organising such a great day. I do so now.

I just wrote up my report on the day and then my laptop died and I lost it. So I wrote it again and then the board logged me out and I lost it :frowning:

OK, so now its gonna be brief.

I certainly echo the others, great day once again thanks to Pesky and BAT. Always fantastic to see everyone,…a shame that a few of the clan could not make it this year.

One of my best days ever on track. Conditions were perfect and the car was flying. Brakes, handling, power,…all on the money. I really felt confident in the car and that I could push on and make (slow & steady) progress. Some great time on circuit with Ian, ChrisB, Muu, Wes, Russ, Pesky and SteveE to name a few,…proper fun :sunglasses: I’ve got some great in-car footage which I’ll post up when I get the chance to edit it.

Great to see Con’s family too. It bought a lump in my throat to see ‘W8 CON’ in my mirrors but Con would be happy to know that seeing it still makes me push on and try not to let it get any bigger in my mirrors!

I took my camera but was too busy chatting or driving to use it on the day. I took a couple of shots as Tim and I made out way home. Credit to Tim for putting the miles/abuse on his newly rebuilt car without issue,…well done fella. As we exited a roundabout on the way home he reminded me what immense pace he has blessed it with! Love Dave’s car too,…looks 110% pure racecar when out on circuit :sunglasses:

My missus was called away to a family emergency so I had an important job to do today,…and three helpers

Nice new sponges - the three bucket method?

Haha yes, I recommend it for avoiding bickering…at least avoiding bickering about not having identical equipment

until bathtime i guess?
:lolno:

If you need a donor gearbox I have a Celica one I’m sure we could come to a deal on

Feel for you Will …
You’ve not had the luck you deserve lately.

Ben / Tim Glad you guys got home ok. The A5 then A483 down towards Newport way are great roads if you don’t mind taking the M4 back towards the M25. I’ve had some fun on these on the bikes too - its just a shame local plod like to get their speedie cams out so much.

I was so gutted I couldn’t get my car ready to pop over, let alone for the TD itself. I’ll be ready next year tho.

Jonny, are you sure it wasn’t a hangover relapse - brought on by some brisk driving? ha ha.

Have you guys thought about using PMR radios with throat mics for using on your convoys over to TD’s etc? I’ve got two that I need to test out - I use Bluetooth Scala G4 bike to bike intercoms on our bikes and they are awesome, and transform rides as you can chat and warn each other etc, but they are a bit pricey and not suitable for cars as they clip to lids, hence trying PMR’s. Just a thought …

yeah we were just saying over the weekend we need walkie talkies for next year

*roger, over

I’ll let you know how I get on testing these PMR’s, and different throat mics/head gear etc.

Krchhh Beepity beep
