I'm losing weight

I’ve just been given these new access panels.

Unfortunately the scoops and diffuser weren’t finished but I should get them next week.

The original access panels weigh 580g ea, these bad boys are just 200g ea so thats nearly a kilo for 100? Not bad in the great scheme.

I’ve given matey an S2 Elise roof to play with so we should have an S2 Elise roof in the next few weeks - we can use this to develop the 255 Cup roof from.

If anyone wants any Carbon bits pls drop me a note.

The OE roof is quite heavy so I’d be interested in a carbon version, especially done to cup 255 aesthetics.

When you go roofless in Summer I am sure you can feel the handling through corners improve due to losing all that high placed weight.

I need to go on a diet myself - 97kg today, heaviest ever. When are the carbon guts slated for production?!

They look like quality panels. Are the wet ones for those little accidents around all that carbon
Anyway would be interested to see the carbon roof.

  • Yep, the best

I like carbon bits as much as the next petrolhead but not that much

The roof weighs a shitload. So does the Elise roll bar cover (which we’ve got in progress too).

These bits will all be appearing on Ebay soon.

i’d be interested in seeing the roof, esp if it has a 255 scoop. Are there plans to do the side air vent covers? Wing mirrors? Front splitter?

Side vents and std front splitter moulds are already done. We just haven’t had chance to make any parts yet. We’ll have them by mid week.

Extended front splitter will be available in due course.

I dont know the status of the rear difuser though - they do have mine to play with…

A rear wing would save a few lbs aswell, the standard one is very heavy.

Bob,

Will you be doing anything for the 111R? I’d be interested

Tim.

We’re looking at the rear wing. We need to think of a way of making it as the std one doesn’t lend itself to carbonifying. We’ve got some ideas but it certainly wouldn’t look stock.

The reason we’re concentrating on the Exige is simply that we can pull mine apart and use it. Obviously by switching to Elise parts we’ll open up a much larger market so thats got to be the future. Basically if its a popular part and someone is prepared to lend us an original part then we’ll have a crack at copying it.

I’m looking forward to seeing the carbon Elise roof with matching roll bar cover, that should be amazing.

I’ll take a carbon 255 roof providing its not $4,500 like the one on EliseTalk…

Those panels do look very cool.

I think we can under cut that! The Elise parts ones are only 1200, that’ll be a bit trickier to beat. We’ll have to see how much material goes into the first one and go from there.

I’ll watch the developments with interest

Sorry I can’t loan some bits off my car for moulds etc

Looks great Bob. Could be tempted.

The panels look good in the photos Bob. A bit of a cosmetic one but I’d be interested in a CF centre tunnel as the quality of the standard plastic is pretty dire.

Rob

any updates? I’m interested in the access panels.

I know he’s made a few sets of panels. They may be appearing on Ebay under the username “ultimate carbon” or suchlike. I’ve got them fitted to mine with the side scoops too. When I saw him last week he was just working on the rear diffuser.

I picked up the first front splitter at the weekend. Its fits really nicely and looks pucka. It weighs 200g instead of 650g for the original one.

There’s a second one for sale at the moment on Ebay…

He did mention that he had one B grade part which wasn’t up to scratch but should be okay with a coat of paint so if anyone needs to replace a std front splitter and just wants to save 450g to boot then pls enquire through ebay.

I’ve also told him to pull his finger out and list somemore access panels and side scoops.

The side scoops were also fitted last weekend. I gave them a coat of lacquer and buffed them up

but it looks too bling and I wish I hadn’t now, raw carbon is deffo the best option.

Look real nice

If I was keeping my Exige, I’d be parting with my hard earned.

I’ve given matey an S2 Elise roof to play with so we should have an S2 Elise roof in the next few weeks - we can use this to develop the 255 Cup roof from.

The roof will need some tricky detailing like the double skin mounting points for the fixing bolts, and also cleverly attached rubber seals to make the thing water tight.

Good luck.
