I think the 2-11 is trying to tell me something -
Dream on!
Needs more gravel
Lol, only just got rid of all the gravel from Oulton out of the Exige yesterday, it’s amazing how much got picked up and scattered everywhere even from a quick scoot across the top of it… May need to look at some form of front wheel arch liners to try and contain it a bit better as it was the front that had been ‘got’ the most.
The 2-11 is also going back toghether this week, I’m adamant that i will be doing my annual xmas day drive out in it!
Only way to clean up the tub from years of use was to strip it down to a rolling chassis and get the jet wash out! (I so want to build a Mad Max beach buggy from a bare 2-11 chassis and gt4 rollcage…)
Wiring looms and electrical installation going back in -
Engine and gearbox going back In -
Driveshafts, airbox and other ancillaries going in the engine bay -
very cool
Is it reasonable to put up naked shots like these on an open forum?
You could drive over in it for the north-west lads’ pre/post-Christmas “do”
I could do just that, what date is it?
Had it running again this afternoon, hopefully should have it all back together for the end of next week.
Don’t forget the tow hooks!
Not fixed, yet, Gav, GP_Fisher is the main man. But the usual suspects are lined up hopefully. It would be great to see you’ll and the car.
I may need a lift for this myself
Where is this organised?
I will post up in the meets section, it looks like either the Lakes Motor Museum or at the Cafe at Hartside.
Yes it is Gav
Its saying get me finished…
Mot next week and suspension the following Monday. It’s getting there! Just have the bodywork to do.
All the workings back together (going to have to invest in a new back box at some point in the future) -
And a sneak peek at the new colour combo (whats everyones thoughts on the orange calipers?) -
Nice!
History -
So after 6yrs+ of owning my 2-11 I have decided to return it back to road use from being a race car.
It is the number 15 car, hand built in the LMS workshops in 2007 (the first 20 or so were LMS built cars, everything there after were factory line built and had slight spec changes such as different wing mirrors, exhaust system and its heatsheild, etc, etc). It was SVA’d and road registered. I bought it with the intention of racing it, i had raced the production class in a 111R in 2007 and wanted to move up classes to a faster car.
I collected the car Sept 1st 2007 after placing my deposit back in December 2006. It was the first of the UK cars to be delivered to customers and was used for weekend fun and td’s for 6 months until the start of the 2008 Elise Trophy races were it was race pre’d and battled closely with the likes of Martin Donnelly in another 2-11 (I still have the dink in my rear diffuser from him trying to get past me).
In 2009 it was raced mainly in the UK but it also did a couple of the European CUP rounds (and a trip out to Imola through CupItaly). Also in later part of 2009 the car was upgraded back at the factory to the latest GT4 spec that included the full fia roll cage, Sadev 6spd sequential gearbox and a power increase.
2010 saw LoTRDC take over CupEurope and I decided to do that instead of the UK rounds. It raced right upto the Brands hatch round that year then I swapped back to a production 111R for the last couple of rounds.
2011 only saw it out on a couple of track days and it did 1 race at Spa where it took a pot from both races. Since then it has basically sat and done nothing until now.
Although a raced car, it has come away pretty much unscathed from it all with only minor body work damage to its original clams from a bit ‘o’ rubbin. It still has it original engine in place which has never been opened, original wishbones, original everything basically. The regs the last couple of years for the racing have gone far away from oem 2-11 and with it being probably the only one in such good condition after 4 yrs of racing I wasnt prepared to take it down that path so back to road use with it.
Are these the orange callipers that will turn brown after one track day ?
No, they have been on the car for the last few years now Dave, no browning… I’ll ditch the yellow centre caps (they will only fall out anyway),I’m going to have to wait til it’s all back together again to see otherwise it means stripping them off to be redone in red or black.
Interesting - wonder why everyone else’s went a nasty brown colour ?
