I just bought a new motor!

Enjoy the day Ben!

To excited to sleep Ben

Enjoy your M5 day mate

Yep Ben - enjoy your day - I bet the boyz are as excited as you!

Tim’s coming over at lunchtime to give me a lift. It’s been ready for pickup since Thursday so I reckon I’ve been pretty patient.

Knackered’ness is due to being at Donny last night.

Pics … Pics!

Pics are coming bud  M5 and Exige on my drive right now :sunglasses:

Massive thank to Tim (Muu) for the long haul across London and back in hideous traffic. I hope it was worth it to have a look in the Aladdin’s Cave and see the shiny blue beast.

More thoughts pics later when I have more time…

How about a vid of a few donuts Ben ?

Well this is clearly the drive of a petrolhead.

My fantastic Exige S1 wearing the patina of last nights trackday and a glorious gleaming BMW E39 M5 :sunglasses: In excess of 700bhp sitting on my drive

When I said patina, its actually wearing quite a bit of the exit of Old Hairpin (that would be my fault) and the exit of Redgate (that would be Scuffers)

For a 12year old car it really is in exceptional condition and a whole lot of Estoril Blue.

The interior is also mint and a lovely place to be. Quality materials even if the tech now feels woefully out of date. Great stereo though with the individual audio upgrade box ticked.

So shiny and almost blemish free paint.

AWESOME Ben!

Looks great and very tidy, enjoy

Absolutely beautiful… So jealous

car really is minty fresh, makes my BM (that’s 6 years newer and 15k less on the clock) look shabby

No trouble, I don’t mind traffic when I’m in no rush. Although my ears are ringing from some rather judicious use of the volume knob, Spotify Rock top 100

As for the garage, wow, yea, serious metal in there. Must try harder at work.

Cheers lads, just been for a bit of a drive now its all quiet on the roads.

You can see why this car is the benchmark for performance saloons, it is very very accomplished.

Its quite happy just pootling about, that sonorous V8 wafting you around with no drama. The cabin is quiet and serene, fantastic stereo, sunroof open, no squeaks/rattles, ride supple yet communicative…perfect :sunglasses:

Extend the long-travel throttle pedal and the big V8 clears it throat and wakes up. I have to say she’s proper quick and will lift up her skirts and pile on speed at a fair old whack. Lots to learn about hussling it along but already I can feel it works best with smooth positive controls, a real driver’s car. I’ll never get bored of H&T blipping the throttle on downshifts coming into roundabouts :sunglasses:

Having spent the day in the Exige yesterday, I was struck by just how very very different the two car are,…like truly night and day. I guess that’s why they make such a great double act.

Thanks again Tim, you’re a legend for taking me over. Yup, my M5 was about the cheapest thing in there some lovely lovely motors. That blue 993-RS for me I think.

So I’m well happy and I’m hopeful that this is the keeper I was looking for. It really is a special thing

so my fav car there…

is a fake!

WOW that look amazing Ben, it looks a minter mate and a great mate for the badger

Lol, so you let scuffers have a drive of the exige and he put it in the gravel?

Neither of us went off just put a wheel off. Scuffers was quite a lot sideways though exiting Redgate on the lap we picked up the mud, no real drama tbh.

Driven it a bit this weekend and its got real personality and depth of character. It is very apparent why this is the benchmark by which other uber-saloons are judged.

If the law allowed you only one vehicle to do it all then I’d be happy with my M5, I absolutely love it. Luckily that’s not the case because it would be a hopeless track car.

Just because someone took it on circuit doesn’t mean it would be any good. Apart from anything else it would be ruinously expensive.
