If the law is an ass, then perhaps it will help make it better if more people challenge it. In that respect, it’s not doing the right thing to take it on the chin.
There are proper ways to campaign to have the law changed.
I’d be interested to know what you included in your definition of “proper” - i would have thought going to court to put your case would be a perfect example. I’d also be happy with civil disobediance (poll tax or Burma to be topical) or even illegal actions can be justified (look at how the Ramblers got started!).
