standard s1 exige . how to run it rich, anyone help please . thanks a lot
It already will be, with the (crap) Lotus ECU. Why would you want it to run rich through choice

standard s1 exige . how to run it rich, anyone help please . thanks a lot
you need the 190 ECU mon ami !
I’ve got one it in the garage that is certainely not carbon neutral.
you might need a different pulley as well as I think that was part of the kit.
i would love to try the different ecu but is there any other things that would need changing. anyone shed any light on that?. yes its to run rich not lean which i understand is worse to run lean. i just want it to run a little richer so that now i have con’s janspeeed on and a decat pipe on i can get those pops and bangs back.
You don’t want it to “run rich” - you need to have no fuel cut off on the overun. That used to be acheived by unplugging the appropriate sensor on the hub of the driver’s side rear wheel. However, if your ECU has had the “5500rpm limit due to misfire” flash by Lotus, you can’t unplug the sensor.
Yep running lean is bad, but running too rich is not good either.
Fitting an Emerald/verniers will enable you achieve what you want, but more importantly, it will do your engine (& its longetivity) a massive favour.
thanks for the pm pesky. can anyone help locate this sensor. is it something that you can just unplug try it out and then put back together again. will it cause any lasting damage to turn off the fuel cut off on overrun. or what about a small air leak just after the exhaust manifold would that be bad. im wondering if this is what my old car had as to why it used to make such a loud explosion all the time.
I agree with Pesky - get the Emerald fitted! This is the best thing that I have ever done on the Exige - it’s driveability, and the engines general behaviour, is way better than the standard 190 ECU.
I have a Janspeed SS with de-cat pipe, and it pops and bangs a good-un once warmed up and driving ‘briskly’. If you get the Emerald ‘factory fitted’ with a re-map, I’m sure that you can speak to Dave to get as many pops and bangs as you want.
Cheers,
Clive.
I’ve been running with the overrun sensor disconnected for the last eight years, not wanting to tempt fate, but as yet I’ve never had a problem. You get more pops and bangs and I’ve even had flames coming out of the exhaust when pushing hard on track. However as Pesky says you can only do this if your car has not had the ECU misfire detection recall done. I would also not recommend doing this unless you have a cat replacement pipe fitted as dumping unburnt fuel into it is asking for trouble.
The sensor as Pesky pointed out, is fitted to the offside wheel hub, easiest way to disconnect it is to remove the wheel and you should have access to the connector, just unplug it, tape up the ends then fasten them out of the way.
Tricky
Serious question this - are you a woman???
By the name of Sally???
LOL at Pesky - I was thinking the same thing

As posted by “Sally Ann”, a female from Cambridge, on MLOC, & the use of “i” is a bit of a feature:
[color:“blue”]Hi guys i decided to disconnect the overrun fuel sensor thats on the rear wheel drivers side in my quest to get some pops and bangs back and oh my god has it worked! the only thing is i get the 5500rpm problem that i understand lotus did a reflash for on the ecu, so will i have to put it back, and on idle it runs at 500 rpm any ideas. i understand that it is no longer cutting off the fuel on overrun which was to get the pops and bangs in the exhaust but what about the other mentioned problems any ideas? Cheers Sally [/color]
