Hondata mapping

My car is in with Sinclaires at the moment having a K20 fitted, they routinely use CPL or Abbey for the Hondata mapping.

My first choice is CPL, they have a good Hondata reputation as far as know, and although Abbey have more accurate hub dyno, to me are more experienced with mapping forced induction cars?

Does anybody on here have any experience of either that would help me choose.

CPL have got a bad rep in the Honda world (where im from ) but its upto you ultimately!

Pop your head onto the Civic Type-R forum or Integra Type-R forum for some first hand CPL experiences

Ok, thanks. I’ve not been on either for a while (i came from a DC2, but that was a while ago now…)

I drive a DC2

Im a mod on the DC2 forum

Could be worth talking to Chris Rapps at http://www.1320autos.com

He’s a former colleague of mine and he’s very knowledgable on Hondas and has experience with supercharged ones in Exiges.

Thanks Guys, Some interesting stuff about, certainly helpful.

I miss my DC2, there’s not been car built to match it in my opinion. A friend has recently bought one that we’re preparing for trackdays, i can’t wait to get back on the B18c VTEC kick.

Hmm interesting about CPL Racing reputation. That’s where I’m due to get mine RRed

You just like worrying…don’t!!!

Steve jump over to www.itr-dc2.com and search for CPL mate

If its just an RR session then dont worry, but otherwise i’d have a read

My car was mapped at CPL. I phoned him up and asked for a copy of the map and was told to GTF…

My car was mapped at CPL and had a decent result for a NA Honda. Like most things there are people who like one tuner and those who don’t.

edp,

Remember that you didn’t pay for the mapping, therefore IMHO he is entitled to refuse to give it to you. If I was you I’d speak to whoever paid for the mapping and get them to ask, if he says no to them then he’s out of order.

I had my car setup at CPL on recommendation from reviews on the Civic Type R forum and to be fair I have nothing to complain about. Guy personally did all the work and he was a great…er…guy He even humoured me and compared my results with a typical N/A Hinda and a dyno for an Atom 300 done on his rollers (as I’ve heard so many stories about one guys rollers reading high…or such and such rollers reading low…thought sod it - use his dyno as a control and get summink to compare against). He also popped my car up on his “Customers Cars” section on the CPL webiste.

I’ve also ordered kit from Guy and it’s always turned up the day after and he’s had no problems if I’d have to send kit back for whatever reason.

To conclude - I was surprised at what I read about CPL but I guess it comes down to what Mark said - Like most things there are people who like one tuner and those who don’t.

i had edp’s car set up at cpl when i owned it and although the mapping seemed to be fine the guy was an idiot i wouldn’t go back to him again after what he did to me.

Please, explain what happened.

Please, explain what happened.

Please do…unless its a deliverance moment

Im not sure i want to know the answer to this…

Surely, that’s the most important thing.
