Honda TypeR Engines

There’s appears to be much excitement about Honda engines in the Lotus chassis.Seems like an excellent idea to me, anyone know of any specialist breakers to source one?

You could try here (located a couple of miles from J27 M6 Wigan area) http://www.douglasvalley.co.uk/

Having become aware of the difficulty you’re having finding sources of good low mileageHonda engines, I’m working at stiking a deal with a supplier in Japan. My Asian agent will be flying there in November to locate the best source. If all goes well, I’ll be able to drop-ship the appropriate engines to you in the UK and Europe directly. We’ll mandate a condition of sale that all engines be tested prior to shipment. When this deal is firm, I’ll post the prices and conditions on my website. www.prototyperacing.com

BUY IT! That’s a bargain - i paid 6200 Euro for mine! (3900 pounds)…ouch,

Howard,Make sure you get the intermediate shaft, it’s heat shield, the inboard CV’s and the engine wiring harness in the bargain. This is an excellent price, grab it up before the seller knows the value of what he has.

(3900 pounds)…PJ… You’re in Holland, right?Have you looked into the road-approval by the RDW of a VTEC-equipped Elise so it’s road-legal?Just got some info from them on this subject and it doesn’t look very difficult as long as you can provide a lot of documents on the ‘donor’ car (eg. statement of conformity, chassis number, etc.) and don’t modify much in the Elise.I assume that the VTEC-Elise will pass the ‘roadholding test’ they perform for any 40+% power increase in a car?Guess it’s a very interesting conversion. Perhaps I’ll do it in a few years instead of toying with the K-series. Time to keep my eyes open for good deals on Civic Type-R engines I guess…But this will be in an S2 so it will need to be a 2001-or-later VTEC and all it’s electronics to meet the same emission criteria.Bye, Arno.

PeeJayHave you done the conversion yet?I believe you mentioned in an earlier post that you went to the states to learn about this task. Was this for you own conversion or are you looking at handling the kits for Joe?

Hi all,I was going to buy a new elise 190 sport in the spring but am inclined to go the Honda route instead. Is there anyone here that lives in the UK that has had this conversion? I have lots of questions! I’ll need a respected UK garage to carry out the work and don’t want to be a guinnea pig for a botched job. Please help! Thanks v much! You can mail me off line [email protected]
