Does anyone know if its possible to change the fuel setting from ‘open loop’ to ‘closed loop’ via obd and its related software ? A bit of background - mine is being reported as open loop and I have been asked to change it to closed loop to perform some tests on my o2/map/pcm sensors.
I am trying to sort it out myself but I think my lack of knowledge of all things engine is proving to be an impenetrable wall. I really want to understand this stuff but …
Which ECU? With the Kpro you can do it yourself. WIth the K100 i think you need dealer kit to access it.
You just need a USB cable and the Kmanager software (free from here http://www.hondata.com/downloads.html ) I don’t think you can do it via OBD port.
Best advice is to have a copy of your map from the tuner, adjust it and upload it. But you can also download the map from the ECU, make the adjustment (it’s just a tick box) then reload it.
I’ve been told that sometimes you can get corruption of the map during the downloading, but i tihnk it’s more of a problem for people doing it on a regular basis. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Pretty sure the map will be locked in and you won’t be able to download it.
I also think it’s very unlikely that the tuner will give you a copy of the map (unless you got a custom map done specifically for yourself).

Yep, again why I said the other day that buying a K100 instead of the KPro is false economy. Doesn’t help DSE though, cos he bought the car with the conversion already done.
Maidstone are probably the only peeps who can help, unless an upgrade to KPro is on the cards (along with mapping session).

Good point, i’ve never had a problem with either with Sinclaires they’ve always left the ECU open.
I’ve never really thought it was on to prevent a customer accessing thier own property, but then it’s been said i have too much trust in people’s honesty.
I’d be interested to know why an ECU would be be left open loop too.
Thanks guys. I am in contact with Richard from Blink (he is a top bloke) and we are trying to get my cars emissions sorted out. Basically the obd software I am using is reporting a fault and I am trying to run some tests to prove its the lambda sensor. I think the open/closed fuel loop is being reported incorrectly by the software so I am going to ignore it (after Richard told me to :O)).
My ECU is the k100 (and they want 800+ notes to upgrade it) so I dont have the usb port. If anyone can help me get this upgrade cheaper I would very much appreciate it (and bung you a few quid).
Also, is it normal for the connectors on the lambda sensor and the wiring harness connector to melt together ? Just another ball ache for me to deal with.
You could probably get the upgrade more cheaply going direct to one of the Hondata dealers, it’d be worth a call to see, but make sure there are no issues was retaining your map (like it being locked by the tuner).
Melting of wires around the Lamda sensor isn’t unusual, there’s alot of heat round there after all, it’s important to secure the loom properly (but given you need to allow for some exhaust movement it’s not straight forward).
If your car is running open loop (it sounds like it’s not) it won’t be using the Lamda sensor anyway.
Yeah I thiunk its being incorrectly reported. I trying to get hold of MSC (hence the question above) for a sensor, harness connector and heat shielding tube. Hopefully I can get it sorted this year.
Did Paul @ TDI North quote 800? You could also try CPL Racing - speak with Lynne
PS I don’t want a few quid either, but if you’re feeling generous, bung some dosh to Cancer Research/MacMillans Nurses!
TDI were about 900 I think, which I thought was a little excessive. I will give CPL a call when I have tried the new sensor and stuff. Expensive this honda stuff.

I think I’m right in saying that it actually doesn’t matter if you have a K100 or KPro at this point - other than the fact that you could overwrite the map that is running on your car.
Even if you had a Kpro it would still most likely be locked and you would still need the original Kalibration file in order to change it.
I do understand the tuners locking their maps… there’s potentially many hours spent on dyno tuning to get to that map, so it’s worth a fair whack. They do then have the responsibility to support you though !
I think as you have a K100 you need to either get the ECU to a Hondata dealer with the tool to read it, or hopefully MSC will be able to you tell you how it was left.
They’re the only two options that leave you sure what state it’s in really.
