Hey chaps, drivers side MOG is in and fook me it’s tight, its going to be comical getting in and out once the roof is back on .
Two things, my LUKE harness is too wide and bulky to use with these seats so going the Schroth route, may I have some recommendations as to which is best and from where, if 6 point fitting info also please? Damon I know you wrote something somewhere…
The passenger seat is a little more tricky. I can’t use the std runners so am using what MOG have supplied. They are lighter but the fitting is stupidly tight and the front edge of the seat is right on the sill and very close to the shifter let alone just above the extinguisher. Can some of you post a few images of your seats (OEM as well as after market, Reverie etc) and centre consul so I can compare the difference in the same areas.
I also have LUKE harnesses and they are more difficult to use and install due to the 3" lap belts which are difficult to orientate in our half scale cars.
I had the Schroth 6 points in my last car and they are much easier to use with the 2" quick adjust lap belts. I think these are the ones I had [color:#FF0000]MSAR Safety[/color] . Not sure who has the best prices, maybe check DT’s as Damon suggests. I’ll have to buy another pair at the end of next year as the FIA date runs out on my LUKE, another great ‘safety’ rule from the MSA for clubmen competitors.
I removed my Schroth 3" four point harnesses from my S2 with a view of using them in my new S1.
The S1 already had the Safety Devices four points installed which are considerably older than my S2 ones but are identical, except the lap belts are narrower. After trying both I kept the old ones as they are easier to live with and seem to do the same job
Thanks guys great stuff. I can keep the centre console I just need to add in a few more holes in those runners, shame I fooked’em up tonight trying to do it in a bloody hurry. My harness bar has M10 bolts which looks like a problem anyone think any different…? I’d rather not buy another bloody harmess bar as well
Oh hang on looks like I can get an M10 boltin kit direct from Schroth…phew
If you can’t find a specific bolt in harness I’m sure you can get bolt in plates as a seperate part, you just thread the harness through the triangular plate and theres a spacer washer kit that comes with them to fit the correct bolts while allowing them to still swivel. I bought some for the castration straps on the 6 point harness to mount them to the seat rails.
Lol cheers again guys. So I called Schroth anyhoo and had a think about it as the seats are not the wideboy version. So as I only trackday this car I am going for 4 points instead of 6 and a new harness bar all from MSAR, spoke to Malcolm will arrive before Christmas. Sorted, now just the passenger seat runners…
Get 6 points mate, if you are gonna have a smack you will want to be wearing 6 points. I will fit them for you when your car comes down, now specific 6 point fitting kit is required if you are using fixed seat brackets.
