Tell me about it, everytime Will gives me a lift out with his 5pt’s I think i’m going to end up a choir boy!

Lol chappy at Schroth told me yours (6F) were wrong for your car
MSAR, Shcroth and Lotus all advised 4 points. However, I will change to a 6 on the drivers side once I get settled with the seat car combo…next years winter project.
Why is it wrong?

Dunno, he said something about that being a formular harness and not correct for the car
Thanks Joel, sorted
Then maybe I listed the wrong one on here as they are not formula ones.
Has anyone fitted a Recaro???
Do the ‘Recaro’ side mounts fit without too much faff?
After reading this I now see why I cant go Flat, I only have a couple of chairs and normal seat belts, my chairs dont even have holes in them. I thought about 4 points but they would stop me getting to the cup holder.
I have one of the Recaros in my shed waiting to be fitted, I held out hoping Jacqui might be able to drive the car but it is unlikely she ever will so in it will go over the winter, let me know how yours goes?
What model Ade? Have you got the ‘Recaro’ FIA sidemounts???
Not bought one yet. But it looks to be the best bet and a lot of bang for circa 400 notes.
OK it’s 6 Kg or so, lots more than the 2-3 Kg CF offerings… But I am on a weight loss programe!
Mine is the standard Lotus sport FIA approved one, not sure of the part number as I bought it 2nd hand.
Hope to have bought and installed early in Jan!
I used to have the 6 point, but changed to 5 as found them easier to adjust for passengers of different shapes and sizes. I’m going to go back to the 6 as like Neil says they are a bit snug.
I wouldn’t use the 4 points as when I’ve had them in the past I could never get the lap belts tight enough to stop them riding up off my hips when the shoulder straps are tightened.
Ok all done. MOG’s are in, drivers side went straight in on existing runners with Ali brackets supplied. The passenger side was the issue as the fixed brackets supplied by MOG to replace OEM were WAY WAY off the mark. Tried MSAR seat brackets also as I needed new harnesses and bar but they also were no good. So, I designed some based on the MOG brackets and had them made in 5mm Sheet Ali (not as easy as it sounds, its bloody tight). Excellent fit even with the extinguisher, the only other mod I had to make was to cut away a piece at the base of the centre consol. To help others I’ll forward the DXF’s to both companies so long as I can have a refund on those parts?
The MOGs were 2.90kg each. Weight wise from the Lotus CF jobbies at 5.75 kg (std 6.6kg) I saved 2.85kg per seat. So 5.70kg plus the runner/bracket difference of bits taken away and bits added 1.5kg, so 7.20kg total.
Ive also taken off various bits of unused crap at 4kg and changed the engine lid saving 6 kg. I maybe saved another kg or so with the new harnesses and bar (LUKE was comfy but heavy). The difference between the rear wings, adding rear view camera and Shift should be covered. So a total of 16kg saved
I could of supercharged it LOL.but I dont f&*%ing care, wheres the fun in that !
Ok so I changed the LCD design also, more compact and better I think. Moved the Shifti lower as the seats are lower slung and it was too in my face.
And no more clam crack
Yes Ill be painting the engine cover.
Curates egg, matey!
May I sugeest that you invest in some padding for the seats (I got mine from Reverie)? Reason not for comfort (seats are ace without), but to help get a bit of ventilation/air between you & the seat, as it’ll get rather warm
look forward to seeing your mota (but not that bloody LCD thing) in a few weeks
Well done dude, but I’m still not convinced on the LCD screen
Good work mate! You cann’t put paint over that lovely C/F
Looking good, just wish I had the bottle to cut big holes in my car… and have a budget that much CF
Must fit my Recaro seat soon and get rid of the carpets etc, there is weight to be saved
Nice roof off Elise there Johnny!
I think the LCD screen is a great idea… so you wont get too bored and can watch some movies as all and sundry are passing you!
