Help change the law in the UK

"Motorcyclists account for 1% of all road traffic in the UK, but shockingly account for 20% of fatalities.

What is even scarier is that prospective car drivers can currently pass their test without answering a single motorbike-related question.

Bennetts have launched a Government petition to ensure bike-related questions are made compulsory in all UK driving tests.

To have this matter raised in the House of Commons 100,000 signatures are required. We need your help.

Please sign the petition now: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/26272 and share this link with your family and friends. "

I’ve signed the petition as I think it is a decent suggestion.

I’d be interested in getting a breakdown on biker death and serious injury stats to see how many are a direct result of a car driver.

I know two people who used to have bikes (and several who still do have one). Of the ex bikers, one is now full of titanium and the other only has one arm. Both of them fell off their bikes without any four-wheeled assistance.

So rather than changing the driving test, my suggestion would be to just ban bikes

The problem is the crazy power outputs of modern bikes-even 600’s.I,ve ridden bikes all my life and raced for a lot of years and reaction times now are beyond most average riders capabilities.

Isn’t that more to do with the relative lack of safety features when compared with a car?

noted this quote from a biker on another site: "It’d probably be a good idea if we stopped throwing ourselves up the road or into hedges. Approximately 20% of accidents are of our own making. "

Bikes on roads are nuts, i agree that they are just too bloody powerful and there is zero protection. And they are bloody slow around bends. hahaha

Done and forwarded to other biking chums.

If you really want to do something for bikers, go and take your bike test!!

Seriously, even if you never have any intention of owning a bike go do it, you’ll learn more about spacial awareness than any car driving test will teach you and you WILL be a better car driver for it!

I’ve signed the petition but I can’t see asking a couple of questions at the end of a car driving test is going to make any difference what so ever…

And the other 80% are down to stupid in considerate drivers
