[quote=TarmacTerrorist]If you really want to do something for bikers, go and take your bike test!!
Seriously, even if you never have any intention of owning a bike go do it, you’ll learn more about spacial awareness than any car driving test will teach you and you WILL be a better car driver for it!

To get your HGV license there are plenty of bike related questions in the theory test.
On the driving test , one pull away or left turn without looking very thouroughly in all 3 nearside mirrors would get you an instant fail.(most artics have 6 mirrors in total)
A cursory glance in one mirror is not accepted…
Done, but completely agree with the bike test points above. Last year started riding my push bike a lot more and the number of drivers who have absolutely no awareness is shocking.
Me too as I cycle to work. I think it makes you a better driver because :
You train yourself to assume the worst at all times - some silly bint just looked straight through me (in dayglo yellow with flashing lights) and pulled out on me this very evening
You really think about what you’re asking those two tiny contact patches to do, especially with dodgy conditions like the last week. Nothing sharpens the mind like falling off, binning it f’in hurts every time!
