Looking good Gav. Just looking at the cutout it seems a bit bigger than you would get on the Exige. Is that just the shape of the Elise clam or have you gone bigger for extra cooling for the intercooler?
I think the elise ‘concave’ section is larger than the exige, yes. You also get the two black trim/fake vent pieces either side of the rear lamps on the elise which goes right to the edge of the clam and is where i have cut away to.
I initially cut straight across the bottom but it looked completely wrong, I had to get some tape and put a radius section in to follow to make it match the top boot lip best i could.
So yes it does follow the elise rear section to a fashion.
An Exige would be easier to do as you would just cut away the whole section on the back and have nice flat surfaces to bond the mesh on to on the inside. The Elise rear clam (and front clam) unlike the exige are actually in two halves sections and bonded together. as I have cut the rear away i have been left with internal mouldings in each corner which has made the mesh im using difficult to get tucked in in those two cuorner points. I have been reluctant to grind away this as it is all that is left holding the top and bottom halves of the clam together either side. Going to see if I can reinforced the sides in the when it goes up the bodyshop so i can grind those bits back where the mesh wants to naturally sit.
Loving the minimalist rear end!
Cheers Gav.
Certainly looks good.
I had similar thoughts but had this done instead!!! So I can keep the boot space if I want to.
And the best bit for me…I can disconnect and remove the second silencer at the v band which can be seen below, Then fit the additional tail pipe for noisy track days.
Looks good, any ideas how much quieter it is now?
Not yet… not had the db meter on it at full chat…But not barking.
Who made it? I feel I might need to change mine, it is a work of art
The same bloke that made mine and Christians. The guy can seriously weld!!!
Gav, are you sticking with the A/A intercooler?
(sorry , this is a hell of a thread drift)
He also understands exhausts and how they work!!!
very smart!
does the second can come out without having to disassemble all of it?
yep, keeping it all lotus best i can. just playing around with a few body ideas for cooling thats all. I had all the 2-11 kit on the shelf here.
I have removed the heater/aircon and with it all the associated pipework in the engine bay giving better air around it all. I have also made my own heat sheilding up for below the intercooler as it sits directly above the exhaust manifold.
