Full 2bular exhaust system for 2010 Cup 260

Hey Guys,

I’ve had the Cup 260 for two years now and I’m looking into a few changes. I’d like to address the exhaust system. I’ve read up on 2bular and I’m expecting to go with Jim for a full system. Before I order anything I’d like some advice on what I’ll need to do after fitting the system. Re-map etc…

Once all the work is done I’ll sort out some sample clips detailing before and after sound and impressions for others to browse prior to making their own decision.

Oh, and does anyone have an email address for Jim at 2bular? I’ve tried his website but not heard anything back from him.

You have a PM.

Many thanks for the quick reply Jonny, I’ll email Jim and no doubt he will advise me on how we can achieve my goals.

I appreciate that Im not the first to ask these questions but from what I have found via several searches through Exiges.com and other forums is not the most up to date info. I see that Jim has done a lot of work over the years (especially with his 4-1 header/manifold design), also with the cup 260 having “Four high capacity injectors and an uprated fuel pump” I’m curious as to what else might be needed to get the most from this upgrade. Induction for example, I can’t seem to find many options for a supercharged 2ZZ-GE engine…

Speak to Jim about ‘V bands’ if you’re planning to have both a decat pipe and a sports cat for quiet trackdays … it makes things much easier when swapping them.
Jim also does a very nice panel eliminator that gives great benefits ,both in heat dissipation and ease of access to the system.

V bands do offer some time saving value, I read the following thread on lotustalk here

I was a little concerned to see that the system didn’t line up to the centre of the car when fitted though.

I’m thinking about keeping the standard look and having a through the diffuser design. I would like to get rid of some of the heavy heat shield though, have many done this? I’d be keen to see what others have done with a good ceramic coating on parts of the exhaust…

Loose the grills. Go naked!

sorry still can’t get this upload image thing :frowning:

Why is it so difficult? We are in 2013!?

be careful about losing the heat sheilds. I had a schmokin’ experience without them. The boot floor still smells.
I now have more nimbus , a lowered box and zircotec on my u-bend.
(completely anal over engineering, as you’d expect)

I know what you mean about the uploads, I’m trying to view all of this on a work system and it doesn’t show any pictures unless they are embedded or whatever.

I gather that the 2bular system is lighter any way so even if I keep the heat shield I will still be adding lightness. a ceramic might be worth getting done on the 4-1 header/manifold though.

Has anyone here replaced the exhaust system on a cup 260? I’d be interested in what re-map they went for and if they needed to modify induction or fuel components to suit?

Now that’s where it’s at :sunglasses:

Have you had that coated Scoob? Was thinking the same at the end of the year.

I have kept the standard look with a full 2bular through the diffuser with a sport cat without the heat shield surrounding the cat , I had the elbow coated with Zircotec white and I wrapped the rest up to the manifold in DEI titanium and had no problems .
DONT use the Thermo Tec kevlar manifold blanket like I did though as it burnt through and nearly set on fire and that’s rated to 750F :astonished: , there’s some serious heat from the Exige S manifold .

Thanks for the heads up, some good info there.

How about other components to supplement a full system change, will my standard cup 260 injectors and fuel pump be suitable after a re-map?

What options are out there for induction? I’ve read up on TRD box and filter, though there is mixed feedback. Some reports of a poor fit.

Your 260 fuel pump and injectors will be fine even with a remap , I’m told that most cars fitted with the full 2bular system that the ECU will learn a compensate for it after about 200 miles , my car didn’t seem to like it though and I had to have a remap , it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t running right , I’m sure there are lots on here that had no problem , after a remap my car was like a rocket.
Most on here have gone for the TRD airbox , it’s cheap and works well , the only problem I have with it is the fit , I have had two of them now and the fit on the ones i have had is rubbish & changing the filter is a pain , I have also had the carbon pipercross VIS induction kit but Essex Autosport said I should go back to the TRD when I had my last remap , they don’t like the pipercross .

Thanks for your feedback, all very helpful. No doubt the TRD box and filter is less expensive option too.

Can you tell me a bit more about your 2bular system Moomin? When did you buy/fit it? I don’t suppose you can post up a decent quality video that will give me a good idea of what it sounds like? There really isn’t anything out there that compares standard vs 2bular 4-1 header/manifold, de-cat pipe and 8x24 Oval Thru-Diffuser box.

I’m not sure how much the cup 260 will gain from a full system, maybe a little.

We’ve just had a tubular system delivered and fitted to JonnyFox’s NA engine, our Tech Director Mick was very impressed with the manifold.

As is pointed out above, serious heat is generated, there is a video on YouTube at www.youtube.com/trackgroupltd

Sound …

My system is the 6x18 oval back box with a sport cat and manifold , I had the cat bypass fitted but changed to the sport cat because it was getting to be a pain changing it for MOTs and I can’t feel any performace difference between them.
I have had this system for a few years now and I have have had 2bular back boxes on the other Exiges I have had , Jim is a top bloke with quality and service that’s second to none in my opinion , he makes them all himself and he’s very busy because of that , there are lots of owners on here that would highly recommend his work.
My exhaust sounds amazing , not boy racer loud but a real tune , I don’t have any video clips and my cars tucked up in its carcoon and SORN for the winter , it will be out in the spring though and your welcome to have a look and listen then if your not to far away.
