Favourite circuits

After completing a fair few trackdays over the last couple of years I thought I would put a list together of my favourites in order of preference

  1. Spa - has to be the ultimate trackday experience, amazing high speed circuit with stunning scenery
  2. Lemans - love the atmosphere and heritage, the drive across France, a great social event with Mloc crowd
  3. Donnington - my first trackday, especially evening sessions in the summer, my first memories on track
  4. Snetterton - really enjoyed the new infield additions
  5. Castle combe - a little bumpy in places, but quite exciting and challenging circuit
  6. Stowe - short circuit but learnt a lot in the wet on 2 occasions
  7. Rockingham - not too bad in the dry on the national circuit, but an ice rink in the wet on a poor surface
  8. Bedford - noise restrictions were annoying and spat my dummy after black flag, won’t return
  9. Hethel - driving training was memorable dodging hares and pheasants on track.
  10. Silverstone GP - bad experience on a wet trackday, so would like to revisit

Still waiting to add the exiges Anglesey trackday to the list.

Which are your favourite circuits you have driven?

Of circuits I have driven, these would be the most enjoyable with the Exige.

Zandvoort
Donnington
Angelsey
Oulton Park
Cadwell park
Spa

Noise police mean that Angelsey is best bet these days …

Spa
Donny
OP
Ring (private day)

In order for me, it would be:

  1. Spa - In my opinion, just the ultimate driving experiance
  2. Spa
  3. Spa
  4. Oulton Park - I have had some great summer track days and races here
  5. Donnington - my local, love it to bits. Craners is one of the best corners on the planet for me
  6. Anglesey - Great track, great company, great drive there (apart from the obvious bit)
  7. Silverstone - my first race win, love the way it flows and its great with loads of power
  8. The Ring - had some great times here. The ultimate B road, treat it with respect and a great time can be had
  9. Brands Hatch - very technical, had some great races there
9.5. Bedford - loads of room to hoon about
  10. Snetterton - sooooooooo far away for me, but love it all the same

Tracks I don’t really like

Castle Combe - too bumpy and if it goes wrong, its gonna hurt.
Zandvoort - seemed a bit mickey mouse to me if im being honest

Have you never driven Cadwell Sean? It’s brill :sunglasses:

No I haven’t actually. I never raced there and have never bothered going up for a track day.

1 Spa
2 Donny
3 Oulton Park
4 Anglesey
5 Snetterton (not done the 300 yet)
6 Brands Hatch GP

Oh yeah, I forgot about Brands, I love Brands. List edited

Has to be the GP for a trackday for me though, otherwise I spend too much time overtaking and never get a decent lap in :frowning:

Overtaking Ade, are you sure?

1.25L Fiestas I can just about manage if they are on a cool down lap

You really, really must make the effort to do Cadwell, mate. I (& many others on here)guarantee that you will love it :sunglasses:

Have many people on here driven at Thruxton? Only ever been there once myself. Hilarious place. Right, left, right, left, right in quick succession then you don’t lift off until you get to the final chicane about 2 miles later! Would be truly mental with the sort of power levels some on here are running now.

Pembrey is a nice technical little track too.

Ashamed to say I’ve never done Cadwell!

Nor me

love cadwell, look up the video of the M3 getting lost!

  1. Anglesey - just because its a great circuit and whenever I go its part of our annual adventure
  2. Donny - its close (relatively), Craner’s is awesome and get it right (happens occasionally) and it really flows.
  3. OP - its just epic and scares the bejeezus out of me, only been a couple of times (not including just attending for a curry!) and I’ve barely scratched the surface. Bloody miles away though.
  4. Cadwell - only driven once and my ECU fxxxed up but its absolutely mega, only lower down the list because its properly miles away.
  5. Bedford - SW circuit is the best and a great way to spend a Friday evening in the summer. OK its flat and a bit dull but very safe hooning. I get lost on the full circuit.

Bit sad that I’ve not been to OP or Cadwell this year :frowning:

I’ve only done Bedford in the exige. It’s my favourite track and the easiest one to get too from North London. Jim’s noise cancelling-chambered backbox really made a difference last weekend and although I was mostly careful and lifted off past the noise meters, I didn’t see a noise board (except for one time when a rather loud clio cup car on slicks went past me at full chat).

All the following tracks have been done in hot hatches, in order of favouritism:

  1. Cadwell - great fun, just a shame it’s so far away.
  2. Snetterton (old layout) - Doing the 300 version next Sunday, looking forward to it although I’ve a feeling that Coram has been ruined (from a trackday perspective, it looks a lot harder, more technical and less fun than it used to be).
  3. Oulton Park - also very good fun, but also a long way from me.
  4. Silverstone - too big and wide for a clio 182, but would like to go back with the exige
  5. Donnington Park - did it in a Megane 250 but it didn’t really grab me to be honest. Cadwell seemed far better (and only an hour further away from London!)
Last - Mallory Park - dull and kills front tyres. Not a fan.

Would like to do Brands next year, and Spa if I can get permission from the wife to leave her to look after a few months old baby for a weekend!

Cadwell Video from the archives …

watch it in the wet though ! …

Mine have changed in the last few weeks

  1. Spa
  2. Oulton Park
  3. Silverstone GP - old one, not tried the new one yet
  4. Anglesey - didn’t like church last time
  5. Donny - After recent visits it’s gone to the bottom of my list - crap entry/exit to circuit, fuel too far away (if site not open) cafe is fooking expensive and apart from Craners not that exciting anymore :frowning: oh and it’s all over in around 1:21 seconds - not that I’ve been timimg or anything

You have to say though mate all of the on site cafe’s are expensive. Fuel at Oulton Park is bloody miles away as well and there is no onsite option and if you dont find it exciting, then you simply aint trying hard enough!!
