Exiges.com Trackday Cadwell Park SUNDAY 24th JUNE

Firstly Clive, don’t worry. Just drive slower on track, not beyond your comfort zone, and all will be okay. That might sound like simple, even patronising advice, but no amount of other tips you get will be as helpful or sound.

Secondly, if it’s dry, I’d say the one thing you’ve discounted is perhaps the most important, Yoko tyres. They give miles more grip than normal road tyres and not only enhance the experience but in my opinion tend to leave you with more spare grip in case of problems than what you’ve got on now.

I wouldn’t worry about the ARB, the tyre pressures are more important. Take it with road pressure run it around for 15mins and then take them down to something sensible all round and go from there.

But seriously, you don’t really need to do anything more until you’re comfortable on track and ready to try something else that will make it more enjoyable (because that’s all trackdays are about).

Ian

i will be tip toeing around seeing as it will be the first time out post conversion.

marc.

Either way, have fun, and Happy Birthday as well!

Firstly - tire pressures - sounds like you have got this well covered.

Secondly - Anti-roll bars - if your nuts have never been undone then they could be a right bugger to undo. Standard setting should be in the middle setting and leaving it there should be just fine.

Thirdly - don’t forget to do a full cool down lap and park in gear with the handbrake off.

With regard to the circuit, just be careful in the wooded section down to the hairpin. The rest of the circuit is relatively safe.

Reading the last few posts I am wondering if I should come along to this event.

Have only been on one track day (bedford) but have had some driver training at millbrook.

It would be great to meet some of you and try out this great track although I hear skill is needed, any advice?

Cheers.

Its meant to be fun, and I’m sure it will be
Its a trackday not a race, so everyone can go as fast or slow as they feel comfortable with.

Totally agree, the worst thing you cold do is get caught up in trying to follow other cars. Take it at your own pace, don’t do individual stints in the car longer than 15 mins, and build your pace slowly over the day. Finally, don’t be worried if you think you have had enough before the end of the day - seen a few people crash out in the final session as they are either too tired, or having taken it steady all day decide to try and do a final banzai session.

It’s as wide as a motorway, smooth, run-off areas, nothing coming in the other direction, etc

Worry more about the journey there and back!

Pesky et al, how many Exiges have gone home on trailers due to accidents in 5+ years of Exiges.com days? I can’t think of any. Long may it stay that way.

A bit of fear is a good thing, it will keep you appropriately cautious.

Tempting fate there !!

I don’t think there has been any accidents at an Exiges.com day ?

I’m 100% sure that there’s never been an incident involving vehicle contact, but I do recall someone coming a cropper on the exit of Cascades (Oulton) a few years ago.(Although thinking about it, I’m not sure that was actually an “exiges.com” day).

As others have said, trackdays are for fun, not racing. Take it easy, build speed up over the day, feel comfortable with your driving, & personally I always stop about 30 mins before the end of the day, when I know I’m knackered!

We were all novices once, & therefore are more than happy to give the less experienced time & space whilst out on track - the object of the day is to enjoy the camaraderie, & do a bit of driving

I’m not the fastest but if I can do it, anyone else can. I think women have more self-preservation instincts than men.

Be safe and have fun, shame I can’t join you as the car is currently engine-less.

Bit of thread drift but what’s up with the motor? Nothing serious I hope.

Tom,

I think you’ll find it will be quite serious when its finished and the transplant has been completed

Looked on the LOT site the day is now full, but have put my name on reserve list.

Thanks for your comments, hopefully see you then.

Con’s right. Hopefully looking at a late July/early August date to collect SC Honda. Wish we hadn’t sold the VHPD in March though.

I must try to keep up. . . sorry.

Scary Track Suppose its not a bad idea to have some respect for the track, it should make some of us a little more careful Well to begin with anyway.
I’v had most of my offs when tired and “confident” (that might be overstating it a bit) lets say less nervous… Have fun all see you there

Would it be possible to camp at the track on Sunday night as well? I don’t fancy the long drive home after a frenzied day of track driving

Change of plans! I am now free on the Saturday, but have to go back on Sunday, so I can join you lot for camping and BBQ on the Saturday night - are we all bringing burgers and beer? I may have some ‘passengers’ in a support car joining me on late Saturday evening - what’s the latest time that they could get into the circuit - 10pm?

Cheers for the advice and support - I seriously look forward to being overtaken by RussT and the gang.

I’ll be spending all day Saturday meandering up to the track. Anybody else down south fancy a non too direct trip up to Cadwell, possibly including the Evo-famous B660?
