See what I mean

This got x-posted onto Scottish Elises. Seeing as how I own one of these silly S2 Exiges, I might come and give it a thrash! Will try and book up tomorrow.

Meanwhile, can someone tell me whether it’s the full circuit (with the GP extension) or the shorter one? I really don’t like the long circuit - you just kill fuel, brakes and tyres for zero extra enjoyment …

Cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin, & welcome to the forum

It hadn’t crossed my mind that it would be the “long” circuit - I don’t like that one either I’ll check it out tomorrow, but I’d be amazed if we weren’t using the “shorter” circuit.

Would be great to see as many of you Jocks as are able to make it - could you possibly also bring our goalposts back too, please?

Oh Christ, I think you’ve sold it to me. Are there any places left?

Nope, but I’ll swap my place for your dirty weekend somewhere in Europe

Seriously though Nick, phone on Monday & get yourself on the list - it’ll be great to see you (& Tarmac T, I presume too)

Yes Mr Pesky, looks like you will be having the pleasure of my company once again (run away, run away) . I will also be looking forward to meeting a whole load of new faces to boot.

I have to agree though that 250 is an awful alot of money to pay out for a trackday and it will officially be the most I have ever spent on this type of event (never have I exceeded 200 before). I have no major quarms with this, just please be advised that if there is any likelyhood that the weather is bad on the day I will be down in the Audi…Not what I am hoping for I can assure you!!

P.s 2k for the rma paddock club deal is not bad if you intend on doing 1-2 trackdays a month in all honeslty

P.p.s Sorry I have to ask, but will there be any corporate cars running on this day with Tracksport??

True, BUT they are only doing 5 trackdays ALL year for the 2K. CLICKY

This event will hopefully be exclusively for Lotus drivers. I’ve stuck my neck out & said that we should be able to muster at least 50 Exiges, leaving up to 20 places for other cars. So, it’s down to us Lotus owners, & Exigers in particular - we can make it completely our own day, if we book the available places - BEFORE the 27th January

This must have changed since last year then, I was under the impression that you got somewhere between 8-10 days with them for that price. Perhaps not so much of a good deal then after all…

Pesky,

I’m no more a Jock than the Mexi-jock is

Goalposts!? That must be some kind of football (soccer to those on the other side of the Atlantic) reference - do they play football in Scotland, then?

I hope it’s the short circuit too. I suppose I will have to get some 48’s for the day as the current set are, err, past their sell by date.

Fellow S_Ers - what’s the plan - down on Friday night, back on Sunday?

Robin

250 quid is too much for me. I will probaby come and watch and take piccies and stuff if thats ok.

TBH Donnington was the only place we didn’t test at when I was competing, because it was nearly double the cost of everywhere else, AND they charged extra for a garage! They take the piss I rekon. Silverstone used to be half the cost of Donnington and you got a garage, and free airlines.

I appreciate it is a great circuit and have enjoyed driving it in the past, but I can get 2 days at the king of UK track day circuits, Cadwell park, for the same money. They rarely noise test you either, as I have a de-catted S1 with a Janspeed

Roger here. Rox was here but hasn’t told us yet he’s booked. And have yet to see what Ali wants to do, but that would me my plan.

OK, twisted my arm - still think is expensive compared to equivalent LoT days.

Will have to be down on the Friday afternoon back Sunday for me. At least we can make the most of the social stuff.

Cheers,
Ali

50+ Exiges will be an awesome sight. I’ll bring my tripod!

Do any of you bad boys from up really North fancy meeting up on the A1 on the way down? You could pick up TarmacT around Newcastle and me near York/Leeds.

Still hoping to take my car to California in March so all this would be dependent on it getting back in one piece

…I’d be amazed if we weren’t using the “shorter” circuit.

I understand that is cheaper to run (less marshalls, etc), downgrade discount?!

Plus, I love the museum idea.

Plus, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ULDIS!

Ian

Pesk,

Steve and I don’t think we’ll be able to make this as the cost is too prohibitive. We’re moving house soon after that time so purse strings will be tight.

We’ll be along to watch for sure and still have spare room if anyone wants somewhere to stay in Nottingham.

I’m in just booked this morning.

Well, I’m in California for 2 weeks in March and just had a bit of a hair-brained idea to get my car shipped over there. Well flown, really. I’m only going to do it if I can get some pretty reasonable air freight. Plan was to drive all over California, get across to Grand Canyon, maybe Yosemite, hopefully hook up a couple of trackdays and meet some of the US Elise boys. We’re going to the A1 GP at Laguna Seca and I’d really love to do one there. It’s a bit tentative at the moment though…

Fiona, Steve, Soggy & other spectators,

Sorry you won’t be driving on track However, it will be great to see you all on the day, & hopefully you’ll book to participate in meal/museum tour/drinkies

I’m sure we can be persuaded to be social. Unfortunate but it IS a lot of money for a track day.

Yeah… but what a track day !

Hi guys,
I’m about to get myself organised for this, but as it will be my first track day [and a 3-day round trip from Edinburgh], I just wanted to know that the circuit is suitable [i.e. enjoyable] for completely novice track drivers.

Also, I have a standard s2 [with performance pack] - should I get the brake pads upgraded before taking it on track - don’t want to ruin the day by losing the braks too early on!

cheers
Denis
