Great pics. What a fantastic day, so much access to so much stuff! Some wonderful cars and as a result of seeing that Exige Cup255 roof with the enlarged scoop, I’ve ordered one for my new Exige S coming shortly!
"Rare opportunity to own the last S1 to come off the production line. Bulk head signed by motorsport staff. "
Don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but a few points:
Why would the Motorsport staff have signed it? I’ll stand corrected but I think the Motorsport team were still at Ketteringham Hall a few miles down the road when the last Exige S1s rolled out from the factory.
I also know that production officially stopped, and then they “found” a few extras bits and decided to build a few more cars. Apparently typical of a small volume manufacturer and Lotus in particular. Is this the last of the first run or the last of the second?
How would you define “last off the production line” at a place like Lotus? I visited when they were building the Exige S1s and it was not a linear process with the cars all lined up one behind the other.
Irrespective of it’s lineage it looks a beautiful car.
While I am sure it might not be the actual last Exige S1 out of lotus (just like the millionth mini was far from it) as long as it the actual one lotus have blessed as being the last one then its provenance is good IMO.
thats because dealers dont know what the Motorsport dept sell.
Lotus are w4nkers when it comes to sales and shafting owers though, and has always been the case.
I rembember dealers selling S1 Elise saying no new car is due out when they had S2 elise’s in the back waiting.
we do get screwed big time in the UK buy Lotus and it must affect the sales as most die hard lotus fans now dont buy new and just change the engines.
