Exige S2 with added supercharger

Quick strip down and I can report that its just the pad moving gently up and down thats clattering

Update of the update.

Its now squeaking. I think its touching the disc.

I preferred the clattering. Will take out and reseat ( again ) during this week

You’ve probably already seen these, but worth posting here just incase you haven’t:

I used them and they helped enormously with my noisy brakes, when paired with the normal anti-rattle buffers as described earlier

I dont think its the pads rattling any longer. I think the pistons are just covered in crap TBH and need cleaning. Ill whip out the pads and the calipers and clean. I just took the pads out and back in again previously.

Thanks for the link though.

At the MOT station.

The most stressful time of the year for me!

Always a big relief

Smashed through the 53k miles.

Loving the car and no plans to sell :sunglasses:

:+1::+1::+1:

I thought I’d got rid of the dash staying on but it appears not it’s intermittent in what it does

I believe it’s something to do with one of the fuse holders in the engine compartment.

I also have the odd gremlin where the car won’t start. I hear the pump for the charge cooler start, the fuel pump prime then nothing.

Sometimes I keep the key in the ignition phase ( start dammit phase ) and it starts after 5 seconds or so. Other times no dice.

Again , a wiggle of the fuse boxes ( co incidence ? ) and it tends to start.

I have been out tonight to remove the fuses , clean the terminals and replug them.

This only seems to happen when it’s been damp , or raining!

I can’t remember the number but something like fuse R4 is the main one for the ECU - is that the one you had trouble with before?

I blew that fuse once, no idea how and it’s not happened since but I had the exact same symptoms - could hear the pumps going but no life to the car. I think the fuse holders are fairly standard parts, I seem to recall a FB post where somebody sourced them for a restoration project but don’t have a link to hand. Maybe worth getting a spark in to just terminate a new one and rule it out.

I HATE intermittent electrical faults.

Your correct - however I am not sure it’s needed?!

My 5a( I think ) blew a bit ago and I deliberately never replaced it. No issues…

I have a bag of fuses so I might replace it now, just because.

Your ECU must be tapped into a different source for power then, as my car wouldn’t even hiccup without that fuse in.

Finding out where it’s getting power from may be a step in the direction of solving this mystery

Agreed.

It’s bloody annoying

Sometimes car starts,
Then dash lights stay on after stopping

Sometimes is doesn’t , but then does and lights stay on

Other times starts fine and no lights.

It’s a switching voltage issue, but not sure where / what from.

I have fixed this issue.

I swapped out every fuse , cleaned all the fuse holder bits and no difference.

Cue more swearing.

I went back to the drawing board ( internet ) and downloads the schematics for the exige electrics. I get electrics , I can follow them well.

I noted a 5A fuse for the power to the ECU. I took out this fuse and the bloody car still worked as before. It made no difference. Right , next …

It led me to one of two things.

  1. failing MRFU
  2. immo failing

Well, I don’t think it was the immo as it was acting impeccably. As in won’t start without the immo being deactivate ( when it does start )

I had a look at the MRFU location and to be honest it’s a bastard to get at from above. However I did note the ECU ( aftermarket ) has a custom loom adapter…

I pulled the loom from the ECU. Blew on it ( for good luck ) and pressed it back in.

I have only gone and bloody fixed it! Crap connection to the ECU it appears!

Car starts every time and the dash goes off as it should.

That’s a bit of a result, good job.

Does that mean the loom for the ECU is getting its power from elsewhere, and not via the 5a fuse in the fusebox?

Yes. Correct. Quite where I dont know. If I find myself with a bit of time off over Xmas I feel a rear clam coming off and some investigation.

Woo winter project!

I havent moved the car for nigh on two weeks. Nothing negative to report. The prospect of taking it out on a cold , wet dark winters evening if I didnt have to just doesnt appeal currently.

Had a look back at some summer pictures and just love the stance and presence it has mind on the road …

I wish it was a hot summers evening
