Exige S2 with added supercharger

Its a great 10ft car!

I have just purchased a USB–CAN(db9) cable so I can monitor the IAT just like you Fonzey

If mine are rubbish Ill not report …

How is that those wheels always look so good?

Skill and talent from the owners I heard thommo

Might just be a rumour though

I have applied a do it your self ceramic coat today.
It describes itself as “easy to apply like a quick detailer”

I found it’s a bit of a pain and smears. I basically went round the car once and did my best then cocked my head left and right like a duck working out if your friend or foe and buffed out the smears.

The positive side of things are that there are no chances of any virus sticking to my hands as they are like Teflon!

Shiny

More skill and talent . . .

These Lotus are fun arent they?

I came to start the car today and battery is at 6v. WTF! I drove back from Leeds on Friday and used the car Saturday without incident.

I had fun getting the battery conditioner to recognise the battery. As it was <7.5v the conditioner would only see it as a 6v battery.

I had to run my wifes mini and my battery in parallel plug in the charger once I got to 7.6v ( tested with multimeter ) and then disconnect the feed from the wifes car.

I hope the battery hasnt FUBAR as its only 2 months old.

Battery was at 11.6v 2h ago. Ill see what the score is in an hour or so and check I can start the car. Once done Ill load it up and see if
a) the alternator is playing the game or
b) the battery looks goosed.

For reference I didnt have the battery on trickle , or isolated.

Would be a shame if the battery has had it mate, but tbh it would be an easier fix than if the alternator has had it!

I have done some tests.

The car appears to be charging the battery sufficiently when idling. I loaded it up and we had around 13.5v

I have just had the car on the trickle charger in AGM mode and its topped up the rest. 12.74v it measured at 2056 tonight. I have isolated it and will monitor the voltage tomorrow morning.

Just noticed/saw your post on the odb stuff. Great news, we can now geek out on graphs together. What better way to spend a few weeks isolation

Stats and a drive. Result!

What charger are you using? I use optimate and they can be set to 12v easily if the battery you wish to charge is to low for the charger to recognise it
They also are able to ‘recover’ a flat battery to its former glory in most cases

I can’t remember the brand of the charger but it’s AGM compatible and been reliable. eta : Its a maypole charger.

I just used the wife’s car in parallel to get it to >7.5v

Off to check the battery voltage in a mo…

Looks like I have a parasitic drain.

Battery was at 12.63 this morning and 12.77 last night so .11v lost overnight

That might have been due to me leaving the fly leads of the trickle charger plugged in but it not powered on at the wall.

I have put the car back on trickle charge and will repeat the test tonight/tomorrow with everything properly disconnected

It will always use some power for the alarm and immobiliser, but it should not be much. With the race battery on mine, if I forgot to put the charger on the battery would be flat in 2 weeks, ie not enough juice to start it.

ade I had the battery isolated via my isolation switch. The tiny drain should have just been the fly lead drain I guess.

My car went from working to 6v overnight. I can only assume I had not noticed it was ignition live on the dash. Ill monitor …

I got this today,

This lets me read my ECU and do maps and stuff. We aren’t talking google here!

Dangerous times ahead!

However something weird is happening with the ignition and am a little unsure where to look to be honest.

Its staying live. Imagine you put the key in, twist to first click , then second but not start the car.
Then you twist the key back to zero and remove it

The dash is staying illuminated, mileage et al.

Any ideas what that could be?

You do realise you can’t map the ECU yourself as they are encrypted, well saying this I assume you are running a Lotus ECU still? Maybe when the SC map was added it was unlocked?

As for the ignition staying on, this could be power going the wrong was from the OBD port?
