Which car does the petrol filler cap for an Exige come from…is it a Peugeot 206 as Lotus want over 100 to replace mine.
I’ve got one you can have complete with two keys for 40 quid ?
As far as I can tell, this heavy lump of metal is virtuually indestructable - which means you must have left it on the roof or something I guess ???!!!
I would suggest that you take Andy’s cheap offer or spend sensible money on more attractive replacement.
Regards
I bet it was at a petrol station…
never really liked the looks of it…

Once left mine at a petrol station and drove another 6 miles before realising it was missing…went straight back to the petrol station and the guy at the next pump had handed it in for me…now I alway hold it in my hand when refilling…even in winter when its bloody freezing to hold!
I’ve been there!
I now put it on the drivers seat. Hard to forget then!

If you need a replacement filler cap - Evosal’s yer man!
Smackle
I guess you found one then
Had a problem with the filler cap on mine last night on the way back from Brands.
Stopped at Toddington services and spent 10mins trying to get it to unlock (was worried as car was on fumes).
Depending on outcome with dealer tomorrow (since the car has 2 years warranty and only picked it up 3 weeks ago) I may be interested Andy.
OK Mark … good luck

when you try this do you turn the key clockwise then anticlockwise then remove the key and then unscrew the cap??
I had awfull bother with mine for the first few weeks until I discovered this was how to do it… (i used to try unscrewing the cap with the key still in the lock and before I turned it anticlockwise… if you understand wot i meen…
I know what you mean but I’ve had 2 Elises before the Exige so gone through that how the hell does the filler cap work situation in the past.
What annoys me is the fact that I only realised yesterday morning when filling up on the fay there that it wasn’t actually locked, and never had been, so I locked it and it opened ok to fill the car when I got to Brands, never touched it again until Toddington.
What this was doing was when you turn the key to unlock (anti-clockwise) it you could just keep turning, i.e. when it went tight at the unlock point a touch further it went loose again, no it’s definatly knackered.
cheers Mark… just checking…
good luck
Dealer ordering a new one for me FOC
A Top Lotus dealer ?
I am having trouble with my Filler Cap. have tried the 1/4 turn clockwise and 1/4 turn anti-clockwise and then remove the key. Cap just wont come un-done. Anybody got round this problem in the past ?
Mine’s got stiff before, which was cured with a blast of WD40.

While we are on the subject I have a question about filler caps, when I undo mine there is always the sound of air rushing into the tank as if there is a vacuum. To be a vacuum in the tank I assume a vent some ware is blocked I suppose this would also make the pump work harder

This is normal - the breather is ‘behind’ the filler cap so when you open the filler cap i think you short cct the normal breather path which is via a charcoal filter and basically you allow air to be sucked in thru the gaping hole you just created - the tank is at negative pressure at the point you release the filler cap.
I fitted a recessed quick release filler cap and pipe from Elise Parts to my Exige.Sod to fit but looks the part.
