Honestly do you not the larger tires will not come up to temp in due time…?
You’re building a little monster so who are ya gonna listen to, a guy that’s been there done that or guys that don’t have a fuckin clue what your car will be like when done.
Do what ya like I really don’t care…
I’ve already made my mind up what I am doing, 245/40/17 front and 315/30/18 rear.
If I struggle to get heat in the tyres, I’ll just have to drive it harder
I say, chaps, why not have a chat about it at Anglesey?
We missed out on Frank visiting us (was it last year?) so we could do a Giant Test if you could all bring your cars to North Wales.
Give it a rest Franky boy, your begining to sound like a bit of a knob! As Pesky says we dont do that over here.
For a given car / power / weight, there is an optimum tyre width. The end!!!
The Seloc chave just brought it out of me… I gotta get me some decals.
The width of the tires need to be matched to the width of the wheels.
A good rule of thumb is that the wheel width needs to be within a certain
percentage of the tire’s section width:
70% - regular street driving
80% - “spirited” street driving
90% - hard-core handling (autocrossing, road racing, etc…)
Quick calc on the rolling radius I reckon he following would be the best…
205/45/17
265/35/18
Actually the same tyre size as the Exige V6. The RR is slightly smaller that the standard S2 exige 16/17 setup, which will help clearance as the GT3 will run lower.
And the ride heights for the new v6 are?
No idea…
I won’t be running the gt3 too low, probably around 115/125. Its just you cant do this on the standard car easily without wiping off the front splitter.
The wishbone angles end up being horrible. This is the main reason my car has been off the road for so long. Trying to get the ride height with bigger wheels and tyres correct while maintaining sensible wishbone angles.
