I have the suspension of the GT3, more grip, twice the power and 500 lbs less weight…
This is such an old topic and it’s been proven by guys like Chris Randel on track…
Add power, add rubber and ya kick ass… I can’t remember ever hearing of one race team ever thinking of going to a narrower wheel tire setup if the rules alowed them to go wider… correct me if I’m wrong.
When guys are too cheap to step up and do it right this same old BS is the only thing guys can come back with…
Maybe I should put a Red Bull decal on the sides.?
I say as long as you can’t put the power down with the suspension dialed in you then need to go as large a tire as you can get to get the grip needed to cancel wheel spin on corner exit.
Of cource if you are now getting understeer from the front tire not having enough grip you now need to go wider until there is a balance as close to nutural as you can get.
I ran 195/245 when the car had 290 whp and it was fine, I then went with 215/285 when it had 500 hp and now I’m at 245/345 with 680 whp.
No traction control since my brain still controls my right foot…
I think they are saying that a smaller tyre with heat in it could have more grip than a wide tyre that is cold, and that a wide tyre on a light car could struggle to get heat in it.
I just want to know what would be the best size to go for in my gt3 build!
The gt3 cars seem to run a 10" rim…but frank and Greg have gone larger. Is there also really any advantage going to 17/18 other than looks?
Advantage for larger diameter wheels/tyres is a bigger front to back contact patch just on circumference arc alone. Wider tyres give a bigger side to side contact patch. Again a balance is needed.
Going up a wheel/tyre size moves the weight of the tyre further away from the centre of the hub. Not a good thing, as tyres are quite heavy. Then needing more effort to accelerate and slow down.

You are right about balance, no doubt about that, but there is still the fact that people can go too wide.
Example, put 345’s on the front and see what happens when you turn in. Balance upset I know.
Oops… Under steer because the fronts are too wide for the loading put on them.
Just widening the rears to regain balance will not bring back the handling.
Some of us know you are a clever guy. Just can’t figure out why you can’t see that going too wide will cause an issue.
For your setup just run the A048 195 on a 7.5" wheel up front and a 285 on a 10" wheel rear.
Chris Randel drove my car with that setup and thought it was great…

So does stupid just travel over from Seloc ?
Put a larger tire on the front and you decrease the understeer by tire grip alone increase it in width if you have the room and you will get to oversteer…
Posting up pictures of Tina Fay doesn’t do anything for me but when someone acts like a ass off the bat you don’t get a second chance in my book…
Why not get bigger decals so that everyone will know what a chav chump you are.

I ignored your first dig at me in an earlier post, but you really are a prize FKwit at times.
No wonder you have been banned from more than one forum.
/Oh, I have edited that post to correct the content, while you were quoting.
Honestly do you not the larger tires will not come up to temp in due time…?
You’re building a little monster so who are ya gonna listen to, a guy that’s been there done that or guys that don’t have a fuckin clue what your car will be like when done.
