Evo evening at Bedford this Fri 10/6

Bit of a last min booking but there was places and I was free. Would be good to see some more Exigers if anyone fancies a cheeky Fri eve hoon and has a suitably quiet motor,…Ade mate, don’t bother.

yours passes :astonished:

Not really but I know where the meters are and so short shift and don’t give it max beans past them. If you chat to the marshals first aNd tell them you’re marginal they’re pretty good at holding out the noise boards as a warning. I will get black flagged but last time I made it to the last sessIon.

My car seems pretty quiet with Martins back box but it’s a good way into it’s life now so I may be screwed. It’s not too far for me so worth a punt.

Last time at bedford, I made all day by short shifting and backing off by the mics, the marshall on the entry to the pits stopped me at lunchtime and asked if I was backing off near the mics, I obviously asked him which mics
He then said he loved the noise of the car and to carry on for the rest of the day with what I was doing  a great chap, but I really can’t be bothered with quiet days anymore :frowning:

I’m with Ade on this - short shifting is sh*t. Had to do it at Donny the other week and spoiled the day a bit. Having to limit the revs to 6000ish coming onto the pit straight and letting slower cars through that I had just passed was really frustrating

Yeah well whilst I generally agree, its only an evening and given the alternative is being in the office then I’m prepared to sacrifice my priniples to change up to fourth early. My car seems pretty rapido compared to most Bedford attendees even whilst doing that

Think porkie off here is doing all the friday evo nights

Any chance of a passenger ride on Friday, my cars been of the road since 11/09 would be good to do a few laps even if it’s in the wrong seat!

Get yourself one of these bad boys

Yeah no problem as long as you don’t weigh like 30st (long story  ) They’ve asked for the names of anyone else attending so let me know and I’ll put your name down.

Would be good to meet Porkie too if you’re attending…

Even the kids in the street keep asking me “what you doing to that car Mr, it’s been in bits ages.”

Nice one, what time do we need to arrive?

Just happened to check out the EVO homepage . Scroll down to the EVO Trackday panel about 2/3 of the way down and check out the grey wheels :sunglasses:

Page linky

for the one who can’t be bother to look

Another top evening out made all the more enjoyable by meeting Michael (Fluffy) and Katie. My Dad came too as I persuaded him it was about time he came out on circuit with me.

It was really quiet with only about 20 cars there so after the sighting laps I went straight out with my Dad. I think he enjoyed it…he was quite quiet  The tyre pressures were too high and the car was getting quite floaty so I came in to adjust them. Tbh I think he was quite pleased when we came in. My Dad’s a keen photographer as is Katie and they both disappeared to take pics…or maybe to avoid the pax seat

Michael and I then went out and almost immediately got shown the dreaded noise board…damnit. After a quick check with the marshall we went out again, and aside from needing to creep past the mic after the pitlane straight I had no other noise issues all night. I think Michael liked the car although I was not really in the groove at that point. I think he got the idea though…

After a couple of sessions on my own, I was really loving the car and starting to motor. I’m no big fan of Bedford but do like the section from the pitlane hairpin to the long straight hairpin. You can be proper ballsy through there and the car feels alive moving around at some quite big speeds.

Quite a mix of motors, couple of GTRs, Atom 300, and a lovely and well developed TVR T350 (used for sprinting). The TVR owner was a top chap too. It was a much slower paced event than Donny last month with no slick-shod R500 or 458 Challenges monstering me,…no need for the right indcator tonight :sunglasses:

Nearing the end I spotted that both the instructors were hanging around looking bored so I decided to take a bit of instruction. The instructor absolutely loved the car and thought it was an awesome package of grip, go and brakes. He did not have much input on my driving apart from telling me to be smoother with the steering when on the limit of grip…I needed telling.

All in all a great way to spend a Friday night and hopefully it will spur Michael on to GET HIS CAR BACK ON THE ROAD.

cool man!!

Hey, Sounds like a good evening …
AND you didnt get thrown off straight away !! They changed their policy now then ?
Last time I was there it was about 2 laps, black flag and home …

Good stuff, Benja :sunglasses:

Now then Fluffy, I hear a rumour that you’re not intending to track your car…I do hope that it’s not true!

Nice little write up Ben. Loved the car, everyone always talks about power but what impressed me was the amout of grip in the corners and under braking. I loved the lack of body roll, something that I need to sort out on mine really. As I said I would have never have guessed your car had a charger on it, not because it wasn’t quick because it certainly was but because it was so quiet and so smooth. I was exspecing loads of noise.

It was really nice to meet you and your Dad, I was saying to Katie on the way home how it felt like we’d know you years and not just 3 hours. Katie learn’t more about her camera at took some nice pictures and the picture your Dad showed us near the end was excellent.

To sum it up it was a very enjoyable evening, thanks for letting us both come along.

I’m planning to but I think the noise could end up being a problem so it may only be noisy days for me.

Ok I’m off to do a bit more to the car. See you in a bit!
