I think there is different treatment between over the limit and approaching the limit. They said if you think you’re near the limit then build up slowly and when you start to approach the limit they’ll show you the board. Honestly, once I’d been warned I just backed off past there and it did not really spoil it for me.
Had a pig of a day with the car to day, fitted some motorsport gear cables only to find that the forward back cable seems to be to long. I’ll phone the place where I got them tomorrow and see if their supplier could have made the inner cable too long. It’s not the 1st 2nd or 3rd item I’ve bought that hasn’t fit! 
Is the long cable, massively too long?
If it is, its probably right, as Lotus Motosport used to run the crossgate cable over the top of the gearbox, and use a modified bracket from an MGF?? That meant you could get rid of the bell crank and rose joints at the gearbox end of the shift linkage and run larger inner driveshaft joints.
Hi John,
The outer fits in the bracket under the gear box but the rose joint has bottemed out and there’s no more adjustment. The inner seems like it should be 10mm or so shorter at a guess. 
I’ll start a new post about this in the S1 section.
