Yes, more legislation to be aware of for drivers when taking to the French highways.
French authorities have warned UK drivers planning to travel to France that they face an on the spot fine of 17 euros if they fail to carry a breathalyser in their vehicle.
The requirement for drivers to carry a breathalyser has been introduced as part of a continued programme to reduce the number of road deaths in France.
Why should I have to buy a breathalyser to drive in France, I never, ever , drink anything alcoholic when about to drive , or driving anywhere. If the Frogs need to check me , they can supply the equipment !!
hahaha, donāt be pissed off,
do you think we cheese eating surrender monkeys petrolheads are happy with such stupid rules? no we aināt
itās not mandatory yet, itās said to be applied in spring 2012
now iām wondering if it will apply to any car that drive in France (iām french but live in luxembourg, so really donāt care about fooking french road rules), iāll dig into it
Will this new regulation apply to the pissheads who lose their licence and then continue driving round in micro cars.Expect the French authorities will leave them alone because of the huge purchase tax they slap on these silly toy cars.
Read today in Dutch newspaper that they also accepted a law last month banning all GPS equipment that tells the driver where fixed cameraās are posted with fines up to 1500ĆÆĀæĀ½
The same article confirms the breath analyzer requirement law will probably pas in July. Fine is 11ĆÆĀæĀ½
this is just ridiculous. Whats the point of bring your own breath analyzer as the reading can differentiate from 0.5-20% compare to the proper one used in police force. (According to the newspaper article which i read not too long ago.)
I think this is just a way of making money on foreignersā¦
rightā¦ I have just had 5 pints and about to go for a driveā¦ Oh I know I best check my breathalyser first??
I can see that working wellā¦
Well, how about after drinking say 1.5 or 2 pints pints - do you, or donāt risk it? Will the kit help you decide?
Donāt forget this will be the law for all Frenchies too, & their ādrink drinkingā record/deaths is extremely high compared to say the UK. If pushed, I would go for zero tolerance as far as drink driving goes.
Okay, Mr Pedantic - set a limit as low as practical to be enforcable. The sooner drunks, & the uninsured are off the road, the better, as far as I am concerned.
PS I am not proud of my own former drink driving habits from many years ago - I was lucky not to get caught, nor have any āaccidentsā as a result of the boozing.
And whilst weāre at it - I canāt for the life of me think why smoking whilst driving isnāt an offence! Something else I used to do!!!
