Emerald out yet ?

Anyone know if the ECU is available to buy yet ?

No guinea pig cars out the then

Moomin , I thought u were sorted…

Oops …sorry, ill Shh…

My car needs a tune after changing the TRD for the VIS , it’s a real pain to keep taking my car back to EA , I was told that the Emerald learns far better than the Lotus ECU and you also get the software so no need to dyno tune every time I change something , at 600 plug and play it seems a bargain .

Its a few months since I spoke to Greg at hangar 111, I was also expecting that the Emerald would now be ready. I’ve got a set of cams sat on the shelf that I can’t fit until I get an ECU. Interestingly they may have an ITB kit coming as well.

I spoke to track club a couple of weeks ago at Oulton and their ECU should be out in the next few weeks. It’s going to be 1200+ vat. I appreciate they’ve put R&D into it but thats more than I wanted to pay with my Yorkshire heritage!

Wow that’s over twice what they told me , it even says coming soon 599 on there website .

These ECUs have both been coming “in a couple of weeks” for months, I realise R&D takes time but there are going to be no use for this season if they take any longer to come out :frowning:

Confused of Derbyshire here, I have a Emerald K6 on my Elise, fitted about two months ago by the man himself. Still runs the old software so you can’t take advantage of he new stuff (yet).

So why is it on the car , is it a 2zz Elise , are you the guinea pig ?

Oh I see what you mean , ? Is still looking for a car to use , I wasnt keen on handing my car over for a week for ? to test the ECU , it could be an option now though , and it would be free .

It’s a long, long story why I have it on my Elise. In a nutshell, for some odd reason my k-series Elise made the standard MEMS ECU go wrong - probably electro-magnetic-interference (EMI). Tried two MEMS units with the same problem and it was a known problem on the 111s (VVC) versions.

In desperation I got Mr. Walker to fit an Emerald and set it up on the rollers and it has been fine ever since (two trackdays with no problems). It took me two years to find the problem so I’m happy.

I want to get the Elise working with the old ECU because, the Emerald will then find its way on to the Exige.

Checked my invoice, it says K6. It was 599+VAT (as it says on the website).

My Elise (118) was making 134 with the Rover Mems and 139 with the Emerald. Car is standard apart from a full EP exhaust, 52mm throttle (waste of time) and ITG air intake (doubt that does anything either). Maybe a trip to DVA for some cams and a bit of polishing will get me 160hp.

I cant see them charging more than twice it cost on an Elise just because it’s for an Exige then , not unless the word " Exige " is like when you say it’s for a " Wedding " , It does seem to be the way though .

I bet the Yota version costs twice that, its always the way

I have an AEM standalone that is plug and play in my car now that can be had for $1,300.00 US.

It does everything you can think of… Boost control, traction, water/meth injection and more.
No need to be held by the balls for a custom tune anymore…

I do have two OEM ecu with custom tunes as backup but the OEM units can only run the car, no boost control ect.

577 whp says the AEM works and it does drive better than the stock ecu…

Who does the AEM for the Exige Frank ?

On all my trackdays since 2001, I reckon I’ve only come across a couple of dozen folk who can drive a 250bhp Exige (S1 or S2) to anything like 100% of its potential, & I include myself here. We make all the excuses possible…tyre pressures/dampers/ARBs/intercooler heat soak etc etc, etc & never address the real issue (training then practice, practice, & then more practice). I love my talent enhancer though

Drivin a 250 hp to it’s full poential only means it’s too freakin slow in the straights so you try to make it up by hagin your balls on the line while cornering…Dumb if you ask me…better to replace brakes than entire car I say…

Mitch Pederson formerly of AEM did my tune using an modified AEM 6060 ecu, you can reach him here… 310-753-5837 [email protected]

He can do drive by wire or cable…

The AEM is the most popular ecu on the planet with tuners everywhere…

Mitch tuned this Pikes Peak Hillclimb special…

Real tuner real cars in the real world … and my car can be driven around town and bumper to bumper LA traffic without a hickup…With it’s 663 bhp tune…

I also can switch on the fly to a low octane tune and still make 488 bhp…

Uncle P …
Some guys love to track their cars and try and go faster and faster ,its a great hobby .
Some guys love to mod their cars and improve it beyond OEM, this is also a very rewarding hobby .

Most love a mixture of both .
It’s not ALL about driver training !!!

Oh yeah let’s see what cars these other tuners are known for…
