anyone know the phone number?A google search brings up competetion car insurance,is this the same number for private vehicle insurance?I have tried autotorque but after 2 phone calls and a promise to ring me back twice im not convinced they want the business!!
See previous threads about AutoTorque… great company great deals, probably the best company to use for your Lotus WHEN you finally get a quote… not for those in a hurry.
Best for me was Heritage Insurance on a limited mileage policy with no NCD including unlimited free track day cover providing it was a Lotus run event!
My renewal with AT is up and have asked Chris to requote as the automatic renewal I recieved is strangely sky high (almost double ) - as per other sentiments they arn’t the fastest but tend to come up with the goods if you persevere - especially if you want track cover included… give them a try…
No, as long as its an ‘official’ Lotus event then you’re covered ie Lotus on Track etc.
Sorry, mate, but I don’t understand the “official” Lotus bit. Lotus on Track for example, has no connection (official or otherwise, as far as I know) with “Lotus Group/Cars plc”. The forthcoming exiges day at Donington is not an official day of anyone apart from Tracksport, so presumably you won’t be covered there?
Who defines this “official” Lotus status? Who exactly is in the business of running these days, you mention Lotus on Track, but anybody else? Do you notify Heritage of the particular day/organiser & then they decide if you’re covered, or do you decide & take a risk?
These are genuine questions & not a wind up, cos I really don’t understand the position, so hope you don’t mind me seeking clarification.

Can MarkA shed any light on this?
As with all insurance companies they are a law unto themselves and they decide if you are covered or not…any day at organised by Hethel is covered as is any Lotus on Track day…youd have to call them to check if other events are covered but they seemed extremely helpful…you need to speak to Martin at Heritage, theyre in the West Midlands!
do you get anything in writing from them before each event?
Im assuming you mean the insurance company???
You just call them and if the trackday is covered by them…they are trackday specialists remember, they will check the event either on the net or with the organising party and if you get the go ahead they simply say yes or no on the phone…remember all calls are recorded…and off you go!
would be interesting to know if they refuse any of the major trackday companies then…
Indeedy, & exactly the point I was trying to establish in my round about way
Unless they had had a bad experience with a particular company, I would have thought anyone belonging to the Association of Track Day Organisers would be OK from an insurance point of view.
Remember that they will of course insure you for ANY event at an extra cost, all i was saying is that there are certain trackdays where you are covered free!
all i was saying is that there are certain trackdays where you are covered free!
I think all that a few of us were interested in was the definition of “certain”, earlier you mentioned “provided it was a Lotus run event” - so what criteria do they use?

Sorry chaps but youll have to call them for their interpretation of which events are insured!
