Does sound worth it. The annoying thing is it looks like I will get a real improvment when it first goes on due to the induction and exhaust but the ECu will reduce the benefits as it resets the emissions.
Have you found this? Or does it make such a differnce you won’t notice?
I had it done and it didn’t work and has been full of problems.
I have since been for test rides in two peoples cars (One standard set up & one with ITG & Sports Exhaust and I have to say that it is a must have mod)
Don’t expect much help from Lotus Motorsport if you have a problem because they will blame everything else rather than swop out the ECU.
it has turned out after a lot of time spent by my Local Lotus Dealers, Nick Whale Sports cars that through various trial and error investigations that the fault lay with the ecu all along. We have then had to wait for it to be swopped out with Lotus Motorsport.
The faulty one had no second cam and kept giving out an engine error. Lotus blamed the ITG for this, untill I found other users who have cars that works fine with both ITG & Upgraded ECU.
My dealers have tested the new ECU on another car before letting me know that they are happy to have a go fitting it to mine.
Why Lotus would not swop the faulty ECU out as soon as we had problems with it I don’t know. Esspecially seeing that I had informed them of my full set up from the start. Then to say it was my set up, only for me and Nick Whale Sportscars to prove them wrong.
I will hopefully have the new upgraded ecu refitted to my cars.
Sadly it has taken a fair while to sort out the problems (due to Lotus).
But a BIG THANKS to Nick Whale Sportscars for sticking with the problems ang getting to the bottom of it all.
My Lotus dealer up here won’t do the reflash but they can send it off to Lotus. Am I just as well getting this done through Hangar 111?
Gareth - you know the score - avoid MMC at all costs Hangar 111 were very quick at turning round my ECU - had it back 7 days from posting it. Fitting and refitting is really dead easy, as long as you know how to fully release the harness connector (I didn’t at first ) .
I seriously doubt it would be possible to lower the cam change much further on a NA engine. If it was I am sure Lotus Sport would have done it by now, and the whole point of having 2 cams is that one gives more oomf at low/mid rpm.

I was in Abbeville recently. There was a Q plate S2 there. It was the first elise with the yota engine, and was owned by a guy who works on the reflash team.
His changed over at about 5,000-5,100, and was very driveable. I didnt ask if it was a planned upgrade by Lotus, or just something he has done to his own car.
Oh well, wrong again! If it was possible to lower the change that far it would be great, but again it does beg the question why Lotus Sport haven’t made this available up to now if it is possible

Mark - the cynic in me would say that small incremental changes are better for Lotus’ revenue generation!
i am waiting patiently for a third party reflash, and disabling the learning function on the ecu .
So hoping to gain performance (because of my pipercross vis,and stage 2 zorst)from my mods and benefit from the lower cam change.
But i feel it may be a long wait.
Well the Lotus Motor Sport ECU is now on the Exige after some teething problems, which took longer than expected to sort out.
But what I can say is that it has made a lot of difference. It is now much easier to keep on cam and it also feels like there is more punch from about 5000rpm.
The old ecu had a flat spot before it gets to the second cam, which has been the biggest complaint from owners. It was also much harder to keep on cam because when you changed gear you often dropped out of the power band. This does not happen now.
Now the car is far more progressive in its acceleration, it now hits second cam at about 5700rpm and just goes. The cam change is not as pronounced as the old change point at 6200 rpm but is noticeable and much more usable.
To anyone with a normally aspirated Toyota engined S2 Exige or 111r. I would say that this upgrade will make a big difference to your car. It is worth every penny IMHO. If there is one thing you do to upgrade your car this should be it.
I would like to thank the guys at Nick Whale Sportscars for the extra unpaid time and effort that they have put in to getting my car sorted out. A first class service from them as always.
