First time for donny in wet - well except for last October’s 4pm Monsoon that only pete757, Steve E and Will were brave enough to venture out in.
Some good sessions although the noise police did spoil it a little although to be fair the guy was rather accomodating and certainey more than he should have been.
last few sessions between 8 and 8.30 were very good with the track drying out. Not sure about the melbourne loop though - national is better IMHO.
Doh missed the curry and only just got home (1:30am). Only this morning I agreed with John that he would trailer my car to JSRacing for a bit of fettling after the session. Bit of a change of plan because Graham’s car had a small fire (probably driveshaft) - I hope it all turns out ok Graham. His car went on the trailer and I drove my car to JSRacing trying to keep up with Sean Missed my train by 2mins and then had to wait an hour Credit to the ticket office bloke though who made me a cuppa while I waited
Only my second time at Donny and the first time in the wet. Before 8ish it was very slippery and I was messing about a bit too much. I’m with Con, I prefer the National circuit - the Melbourne loop is a bit pants and with everyone standing there watching the temptation to showboat was,…well
Great to see everyone anyways,…if my car is back together I hope to back there on the 27th.
Yea, Had a fantastic evening, It was really slippery to start with, Just couldn’t get the front to grip mid corner so was using the power to kick the back end out to get it round the corners. Just need to find out if the guy with the camera on the outside of Redgate was able to catch me when I had a slight moment of mahoosive oversteer and got it all squermy. I put it down to the 48’s that were nearly destroyed at Brunty last weekend and were on last night to finish them off, needless to say they were not that grippy until the track dried out. but i did get a blinder of a last run in just as the sun was going down behind the trees. Followed but a ruby and a pint…top stuff
Yeah was a great night and I was just watching. Was a shame we didn’t make the curry.
Glad you enjoyed some Brummie British rail hospitality there Ben. I guess we should of driven faster home, our average of about 100mph didn’t quite manage it.
Well, bit of a mixed night. Enjoyed the car in the wet early on and was going well as the track dried, up until the point the car filled with smoke going down craners Remembering what was said in the drivers briefing that if you have a problem with your car stop next to a marshal post, which we did on Starkey’s Stright. All credit to the marshal got the fire out straight away.
A big thanks to Sean, John and Neill for cleaning the engine bay of powder, i was a bit useless at that point And thanks also to Sean and John for getting the car safely back to their workshop, sorry Ben! A lift home with marc p up the M6 was sorted by Damon i think. Big thanks to all who helped out, a great bunch of lads!
Yes Dave - the brakes are much much better thanks to JSRacing - cheers John They were only really exercised during the final session because it was so damp beforehand. Real result though
It’s back at JSRacing now to have a DC5 manifold fitted. One of the bolts on the CTR manifold had failed and since it needed fixing I thought I’d take the opportunity. A few more ponies may get liberated in the process which should help to bridge the talent void Once that’s done then I really only need to work on the bit between the seat and the steering wheel…and stop hooning.
You would have been proud of your countrymen at the station Sean,…really top Brummie blokes ‘Yoi wanna cop o’ toi moi moite’ I worked out translated to ‘would you like a cup of tea my mate’ Also don’t forget my speedo is bust so I thought we were doing 0mph all the way back
