Was great to see everyone last night at the curry house.
The day started out OK for me, it looks like the new nice squidgy CV boot I put on has fixed the problem I had with the hard plastic one splitting on Saturday.
Then once again my luck struck as in my second session on about the third lap, coming down the back straight under the bridge my bloody roof blows off, taking my engine cover and half of my rear clam and my rear wing with it. It’s made a right mess of a lot of brand new body work. To say I was pissed off would be an understatement.
All the other guys looked like they were going well!!
Well I’m off to my workshop to try and salavge some body panels. Or maybe I will just pour a lerry can of petrol over it and throw a match on!!
On the upside, the car was going like a train and I am sure the only reason the roof blew off was because of the speed we were going down the back straight. I haven’t looked at the datalog yet to get the true GPS speed, but I was almost into 5th which in my car is getting on for 150MPH
That’s tough luck after all the encouraging progress you’ve made.
Should have given it a run down the M-way one morning and you’d have found out sooner!
Hope it’s all sorted soon and everything runs like clockwork from now on.
Great to see everyone both last night and at the circuit today.
Still gutted for Sean. The car looked stunning and seem to be goiing like stink. The only saving grace has to be that it is one more gremlin that won’t surface during a race weekend.
My first time at Donnington so took it easy but really enjoyed the circuit. Car was handling and pulling really well just let down by the brakes (again ).
Only pisser for me was that I left my glasses on the rear clam then got in and drove off depositing them on the pitlane exit and someone ran over 'em…bugger
Overall great day thanks for getting the ball rolling with it Pesky
Yep Ben - good night last night, & a really great turnout of exigers (new & old) at the track.
I really enjoyed my first outing since the Edwards Boyz worked their magic - the car was a joy to drive in between the annoying intermittant problem mentioned above.
As I was about to leave, I had a quick chat with Jonny Bookatrack - he was delighted to see us back on one of his days, & will be letting us have early notice of other “noisey Donington days” he is hoping to organise. Given the LOT race calendar, I suspect that it will be towards of the back end of year before we can get our act in order!
It was an excellent day to come and spectate yesterday and meet a few of you. Pesky and Evosal, thanks very much for the pax laps and Pesky, I hope your slight misfire gets sorted soon.
Sean, thank you too for the most interesting/scary ride in your beast. I’ll certainly not forget snaking around at 150mph’ish for a long time. Best of luck for getting it all prepped nicely for Brands.
Cheers again and I hope to take part at the next one.
