Guys… not being influenced by the Bothster!!! but I am having a big dilemma about what to do with Shrek!!! Less than 400 miles use in the last 12 months and I hate feeling such a brilliant car is sitting idle!
I am mulling over 3 options… no doubt others such as kind offers to ‘look after’ will be forthcoming! However… since I am in OZ now for an extended time, the poor car is tucked away in a nice dry garage, but feeling I am sure unwanted and unused!
So…
1: Sell up (again!)
2: Import to OZ… quite an expensive option and the ‘feel good’ support here for a VHPD Exige is not as robust as in the UK!
3: Leave in the garage and use during visits to the UK…
IF… option ‘1’ were to be taken, what would the feeling about what the market would say… (in the Spring of course!!!)
As you all know, ‘Shrek’ is a minter in every respect… OEM VHPD, 190 ECU, 13k miles, FSH, OEM sports seats and harnesses, Nitrons, Alcon big brakes, braided hoses, Carbon air box, and that brilliant 8k paint job in Kawakasi Green with full ‘VentureShield’ coverage. MOT too!
NOT going Pistonheads… and at this stage no decisions… just looking for a clear answer to the ‘dilemma’!
Any suggestions would be welcomed as I am back in the UK mid December… just in time for a snowy track day!
As Eddie points out, your minter Exige is money in the bank and its value is only going in one direction.
Many of our cars sit idle for considerable periods. Time in the seat is the cherry on the cake of the ownership proposition. I love driving it but I also love talking about it, thinking about/planning mods to it, walking past it on the drive, being part of the ownership community etc etc. You’ll always be part of exiges even without a car, but (I can imagine) it does not feel the same when you’re on the outside pissing in.
You have a history of the purchase>sale>regret cyle. Fortuitously you have ended up with a fantastic one-of-a-kind motor. If you sell this one you’ll be extraordinarily unlikely to find another.
Only you know how much time you can reasonably spend in the UK. The car is probably more suited to the UK and there is lots of fantastic circuits and your trackday mates are here. I for one will always be up for making a trackday when you’re about if you give us lots of notice.
There you go, you’re obviously not going to sell it, you just need to decide whether to export it or not. I hope it stays here bud and you manage to do more than 400 miles next year with a good proportion of them keeping the Badger honest
Get it over, take her down to Kiama, Pretty Beach and on to Bateman’s, what a run.
I was going to suggest you take her up the escarpement, but …
Or, due North into the National Pk (possibly a bit shmokey at this time of year? )
Pete don’t listen to these guys about keeping shrek
We all know cars depreciate, you should sell it immediately
Its about time you grew up anyway.
Happy to look after it for you and offer first refusal if you want it back!!
Someone knows the area well then!!! Yep, done all those roads mate… at 60 KPH with police radars and random breath testing vans every bloody 5 minutes!!!
Was walking in the National Park yesterday… thankfully no fires near here and all manner of fast machinery and bikes were enjoying the twisties!
…The positive side effect of such narrow roads in the bush means the c…ts cannot hide!!!
Shipping out here does seem to be the best option… yes S1 's are pretty pricey out here, not to mention an Evora at circa $ 160k!!!
