The old girl set on fire again last night, at Donington. Looks like an oil fire again, although I don’t wanna go into details until the cause is known. This means that I won’t be racing at Pembrey this weekend, although I think we are still going to turn up to watch and drink.

Very, very strange and interesting.
I hope you get to the root couse of the problem.
Otherwise some people might get oversimplistic, like K series → HGF, Honda conversion → fire?

Many Blink/Maidstone conversions have been thrashed around for some time, without any other similar instances. Obviously, this is of no consolation to Russ & Veronique, but they will be back!

Do you have any unusual oil systems? I have an Accusump and separate cooler on my Honda engine and have had no problems so far.

Gutted for Russ also.
My friend was following Russ through Craners, said the car was ablaze and after seeing it in paddock i was just glad russ got out ok.

Still can’t believe it, Totally gutted
Main thing is Russ was OK, Just a little shook up

We had to limp home with only 3rd gear due to a clutch failure. Back to the workshop again.

Just for the sake of clarity - the problem is NOT related to the work done by Blink Motorsport, who did the original conversion last year. Nor is it anything to do with the splendid “race day support” spannering, provided by the Edwards Boyz.

I have taken the liberty of posting this on Russ’s behalf, as I know he’s presently in a business meeting, & I’ve only just logged on again since about 10am today. I’m sure that Russ will confirm that he has been entirely satisfied with all the services/support he has received from Blink, & that there is no suggestion whatsoever that the two fires have resulted from their past efforts.

PS Everyone knows I’m totally useless with spanners, so I don’t touch them ie it’s not my bloody fault either
