Cup 260 (additional 20 Bhp)

Hi,
How does the Exige Cup 260 achieve its extra 20 Bhp over the standard 09 car? I think it has a larger intercooler, but is it running more boost pressure?

GB

No more boost pressure AFAIK just a new map and better IC.

Is that what they did to the 220 Bhp model to make the 09 standard car with 240 Bhp? Surely lotus couldn’t have gotten the map so wrong that its 40 Bhp down on the optimal settings?

No they were giving themselves headroom for later models, they strangle the power by not allow 100% throttle opening on early cars, it was only about 70% now to get 260 it is 100% open

The GT4 spec engine on the 2-11 is putting out 270bhp.

Allegedly a recent discovery in a ET 2-11 and the owner said he didn’t order the GT4 spec engine!!!

So how do you get more throttle, remap?
260 Presumabley has the different intake aswell.

Gav

Nope just a full remap and injectors if you have a std S, Sinclaire do the remap on the ECU for you, give around 255-260hp it’s called the Gotham tune.

No disrespect but I find it very hard to believe they simply limit the throttle opening settings in the map simply to allow them room for improvement in later models. If this were the case you’d see adverts for 40 BHP upgrades for your Exige S 220 for a couple of hundred pounds for an ECU remap.

Here is the Gotham kit.

“Ronin Gotham Upgrade For Exige ‘S’ - The Ronin Gotham is a superb starting point to upgrade the factory Exige ‘S’, this consists of a reprogrammed control module and larger injectors. The remapped control module makes full use of the available power of the Supercharger and gives a gain of around 20hp, plus considerable increases in low and mid-range torque - truly a superb upgrade for the Exige ‘S’.”

Surely its running more boost pressure if it needs larger injectors?

Quick question …

Which is quicker on track a supercharged honda converted car or a cup 260 ?

How much power does the honda unit produce?

Mine has around 300hp. But surely the genuine lotus one is setup awesome for track work, isnt it ?

I am afraid I don’t know anything about the Honda lump. All I can say is the standard Exige S 220 round Silverstone was an awful lot of fun!
Perhaps the Komo-Tec 300 Bhp upgrade would give yours a run for its money?

I think you’ll find a cup 260 is about as quick as an NA Honda. A 260 has a touch more power and torque but is quite a bit heavier. Look at the Elise Trophy times.

SC Hondas have anywhere between 300 and 380 bhp with more torque than the Toyota. All with less weight, so one would assume they’d be a fair bit quicker.

The original question was about 240 to 260, not 220 to 240 which we know the gotham can do. So, do we know the differences with the engine between the two?

Seems odd then that people will spend the money to get a cup when there is a faster option available, or maybe its just me. How much is a properly specced lotus cup 260 ?

Just a note : Something is seriously wrong with this site if I am the second highest poster. Cant be right surely.

Gav, I have a sneaking suspicion that only a handful of people at Lotus actually know the answer to the original question and are obviously keeping it very secret!!

Geek Boy, I think you may be right!
