Con McL - Very Sad News

Sad day for Exiges.com as one of the consistant members with plenty of banter and fun… always a good word for everyone…
Condolences to his family

Stunned. Just returned from a weekend snowboarding in Chamonix to this news.

I’m lost for words. As has already been said he was a true gent, we had some great dices on track and plenty of friendly banter off it.

For me, he was one of those people that I see at a trackday who instantly puts a warm smile on my face.

I really can’t believe it.

Totally shocked. What very sad news. I was always made very welcome by Con and was always on hand with a nice comment about my car and friendly advice.

My condolences to his family. RIP Con.

Terrible news. :frowning:

Giles will post up details of the funeral arrangements, as soon as they are finalised.

All

I have been out of communication for a few days, but can see from another post that the details for Con’s funeral have already been posted.

As below, I am pasting a extract from a letter communicated by Peugeot Motor Company which I received yesterday…

Following the tragic news of 2 weeks ago, Cons family has now been able to set a date for his funeral.

The funeral will be held on Friday 24th February in Wetherby, North Yorkshire at 1pm.

A number of Dealers have expressed the desire to make a donation to a charity of choice of Cons family as a mark of respect. The family are planning to collect charity donations to support various charities including La Maison Familale Hospitaliere and certain Brain Injury Charities.

In order to help the family Peugeot have set up a central location where people can donate a contribution to the following account:-

Nat West Bank
Sort Code: 60-00-01
Account Number: 00876313
Please insert in the text box: Charity CM

Or if you prefer you can send a cheque for the attention of:-

Phil Robson
Peugeot Motor Company Pinley House
2 Sunbeam Way
CV3 1ND
Payable to:-
Peugeot Motor Company PLC

Also please write on the reverse of the cheque Charity CM

Finally the family has expressed that they have been taking a lot of comfort from anecdotes and photos regarding Con and his life. Therefore if you have any photos of Con and / or a happy or funny anecdote you would like to share with the family please address them to Phil Robson at the above address and we will compile them together for the family.

I am sure that I will see some of you on Friday

I am really sorry to see this I met Con last year when I bought some parts from him, he was really helpful and a good guy my condolences to his wife and family.

Paul

Really sad to hear this. :frowning: I met Con a few times at trackdays and as above, he was always such an approachable guy, great to get advice from and have a bit of banter.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family,

Nick

So long buddy. RIP

Ouch - sorry to be the first to post, but I thought today was going to be soooo difficult, but honestly I can’t believe what a fabulous celebration of Con’s life it turned out to be - the bloke is an absolute legend and obviously touched the lives of so many people.

The service was so positive and the tributes from family and friends so brilliant.

Thanks to Beth, Con’s family, friends and his extended family (aka exiges.com) - Con we will sooo miss you - it has been an honour and priviledge to know you friend

Looking forward to seeing the Black Exige at Anglesey

RIP Con

I’m not sure there is more to say itself than the fact that the church was packed full of people who knew him from all the different facets of his life. He clearly touched all he met with his warmth and enthusiasm for life.

It was a very thoughtful and thought-proving day but above all I would have to echo Simon’s comments - it was an extremely positive celebration of his life.

The three tributes given in the church were humourous and heartfelt and great to hear. The service itself was in parts very moving. A specical mention to the priest who not only sheparded us all well but indicated that he had been on here to read some of the things written (he had no words of wisdom from God on S2 gearboxs though - clearly a lost cause!)

A good showing of Exiges and Lotii, a fact that did not go unmissed by the family who were extremely grateful and very welcoming.

Well done to all who attended and rock on Anglesey where Con’s car and family will be in attendance - not sure who will be driving but with Con’s sister an ex-racer better get on early with preparing our excuses when she flies past

I’m pleased it all went down well. I was thinking of Con and you lot up North yesterday.

Will be great to meet his family and see his car again at Anglesey.

Yep, seconded.

Was sorry I couldn’t make it yesterday but my thoughts were with Con and his family.

I would like to thank Con’s family for the very warm welcome we received, they were thanking us all day for being there and it really wasn’t needed, I’m sure we all felt it was the very least we could do. I know for every one of us in attendance yesterday there were 10 more in spirit.

As Steve says the service was very thought provoking indeed, you certainly weren’t human if you didn’t shed a tear or two. I know I did, both from the sadness of the occasion to the happiness you could feel when reminiscing Con’s life and antics. I’d also like to comment on how strong the family all stood together in such a dark time in their lives.

Me, I got home and gave Xant a big hug and told her I loved her, hey you just never know when it will be our last day here either.

See you on that big race track in the sky Con, and just because your out front mate doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to get past you…

I can add no more to what has already been said, it was a great day with much sadness and joy at the same time…

RIP Con
