Don’t TDI use a hub dyno?
For sure you run out of brakes, I listen to all the “you dont need to upgrade etc etc” and I thought yeah seem ok and then I drove Sean B car and damn … there is something much better for feel and progression … less effort for same action …
Everyone who has driven my car says great but the brakes let it down …
…I’m 200% happier than earlier in the year and have got rid of the gremlins but know that it could be improved. I’ll be interested to hear which way you go Andy.
I have just checked and yes they use a hub dyno.
What would that equate to at the engine ?
Also, what would you expect the power to be with toda cams ?
Thanks.
Yes
Dyno-Plot is your friend.
At the end of the day it’s degrees of bonkers. I’m fully aware of the component that really lets the car down.
Sorry to be a pain guys. I am asking all the questions because I am really tempted by these upgrades to my car (which has the toda cams already).
A hub dyno is at the wheel hubs as the name suggests - so the power is at the wheels. I understand the losses equate to around 12% so that works out approx 328bhp at the flywheel.
With the cams people are seeing 330bhp at the wheels.
As Benja says check out Dyno Plot
330 !!! at the wheels. fooooooooooking 'el !!! If thats true I am booking the car in now !!
Yup …
Just waiting on a repsonse from John at JSR about cost. My car has a crappy exhaust on it with SC and makes 255 hp at the hubs (same dyno as this thread). I need 330 … that sounds like fun.
John and Sean are at Spa right now for the LOT racing this weekend.
I know, lucky guys. It must be awesome in Sean’s car.
