Cheap wheels / tyres

As mentioned by Rod in another thread, there was a stand at the show selling VERY cheap wheels/tyres for the Exige.A set of used (but brand new looking) Exige rims with part worn (only very lightly used) Yokohama A039’s for 1000+VAT the set. They claim to supply part worn slicks and just rims on their own for bargain prices. So… perhaps this could be the answer to your new tyres + track wheels issues.Details:Derek J Dean (Lotus Specialists for 30 yrs)Tinhay Industrial EstateLiftonDevonPL16 0AH01566 784152 www.thelotuscentre.com [email protected]

have you got the contact details mixed up…I have the following:Tel: 01895 623231Fax: 01895 679124Mobile: 0836 227042web site : www.djdean.co.uk email: [email protected]

They’re the details I have on their flyer…Perhaps they moved and I got an old copy, or yours is an old copy.Either way, ONE of them must be right ! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

DJDean have recently found some additional premises down in Devon. So I guess both sets of details are correct.

Did anyone source tyres/wheels from these guys in the end ?

David they were doing a good deal on new tyres as well - I would have bought from them but got the same offer from the LSC and it was already going there for some other work.Any progress on your slicks?

damn David - where did you get them from in the end…surely they must be worth running if only at 8/10ths of full performance

silly question - how do you know when they are half/fully worn? Whay sort of mileage should you get out of them?

quote:…following Tony Whitters words of warning…Woh! I was wondering when I was going to get that one! Don’t blame me, I was only passing on the information in an attempt to stop you having an accident! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] Seriously thought, if you want to discuss the risks with the guy, I can let you have his phone number.Steve, even slicks have small depth markers (holes) on them so that you can tell how worn they are.

I’m not very good with these newfangled computer things, and I’m never sure if I’ve got it right.

What you said made sense ( I already knew slicks put far greater lateral load on the running gear ) and prefer to err on the side of safety.I’d rather waste 500 on tyres, than the cost of the consequences of a suspension failure.

so how much do you want for the tyres then David…sensing a bargain (!!!)

Don’t worry Dave, no offence taken. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] However, given that you don’t seem to mind spending a bob or two on your Exige, why don’t you put the motorsport uprights on?

Davidare you looking to offload the slicks or possibly hang them on your garage wall as decorations!

Steve, not sure yet…FIRST, I need a car for them to go with…

Admin5, Is this what’s termed reverse engineering?? Get the tyres and buy a car to fit them!!

Just ordered some slicks on wheels from Deans…900 for a set…hopefully will have them tomorrow in time to fit for airfield day on Saturday. They also had same slicks on some oz racing split rim wheels for 600…one of the wheels was damaged and would need a new rim.

Steve, should be a v.nice day to test out the new tyres on Saturday too… Going to be hot, hot, hot!!! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]Mind if I have a run with u???T
