To support Damons request for new topics… What’s your best ideas for moggie repelling
Opened the garage door this morning to find one of next doors cats sat on top of my previously shiny black Lotus, filthy feline paw prints everywhere
Maybe I should cut it some slack as it was -10C over here last night and +15C in the heated integral garage.
So what’s your best suggestions?
p.s. although my wife is not a lover of my Lotus she has done her bit to help, there was a curious incident between her Kuga and one of the neighbours cats last week, international relations are a bit strained on our street
They aren’t stupid, we have s stray at home that has taken up permanent residence in the un-occupied rabbit hutch in the back garden, been there for the last 4 months or so… He will come in for food but wont settle if the door gets shut behind him yet will spend all day in the hutch happy as Larry, lift the lid give him fuss the lot. Got it all nice for him though in there, put insulation in and straw same as rabbit. Foxy in the boxy we call him, ginger Tom.
So long as it doesn’t shit and piss up anything wont be a problem mate i wouldn’t have thought, otherwise your going to have to be quicker on the door draw!!
Cats occasionally decide that my specialised car cover would make an excellent scratching post. A quick spray of ‘Scoot’ fox repellant on the cover seems to take the edge off of its appeal.
I’ve also used one of those water-sentry sprayers that have an IR sensor to dissuade fox/cat toilet behaviour in the garden. It’s only partially effective but worth it for the fun and games my kids have with it in the summer. Probably not a good idea in -10 conditions!
I love cats, make them welcome Wes. If worried about toilet habits make an area to churn over in the garden near to the house…it’s only rented accommodation
Btw you should know…Gav is more likely to take a human beings life than that of a cat
My old cat’s favourite place used to be sitting in the sun on the exige in the hammock made by the cover over the wing,…he was a brown spotted bengal, fantastic character but a bit of a feline terrorist in the neighbourhood.
Told Lotus Newcastle about neighbours kitten jumping on car cover and was frightened that would mark paint underneath. There answer “plenty of room in showroom you can keep it here if you like”
I grew up with dogs, jack russels to be exact, they were both family pets and also working dogs for sunday mornings out with the shotguns. My parents still have them, as family pets only these days though.
Wasnt til i moved in with a mate as a lodger when i was 17 and he had a cat, Bandit, that I was converted to the feline friend (coolest cat ever, ask me about his antics when you see me, sounds silly but i cant discuss it on here).
Had them myself then ever since ive been settled in my own place, wouldnt be without one now.
In many ways they have a lot of human qualities, very independant animals and can be very resourceful when they need to be. Dont get me wrong, i still like dogs but they are very dependant and draining on the owner if your to care for them in a responsible fashion. Perhaps when im older and have more time to give ill have one myself but the thought just has no appeal at all at this moment in time as it wouldnt be fair to the animal.
Now cats…
We have 5 here in total, 2 at work and 3 at home. I say we have them, the choose to be with us or around us.
The 2 at work are ferrol and you cant get nearer than a couple of feet to them, Blackie has been there got to be 10 yrs now, where as Poppet has just come on the scene this last 12 months. We had a third, Sinbad. He was caught and brought home, he now lives with Xants dad. Happy story that one, another faboulous cat, only sorry we coulndt keep him here but he is far better off where he is, he is very much loved by Xants younger sisters.
3 at home are Tiger Puss, Scarlett Longtail and the latest edition Fox-a-Roo. All of them local strays that have come to live with us. Its amazing to see the tramsformation in them from when they first arrive on the doorstep looking bedraggled and hungry from living rough to how loving and trusting they can become, you dont realise the stress they are under when they have no home. Hoping Foxy will be more relaxed in the house over the next 6months or so.
