Bought my first Exige!

I went and did it! Totally love the car, everything I wished it would be and more.

I plumbed for the one that had the komotec 300s engine upgrade by hangar 111, glad I did as a was left a little wanting from the test drives in the standard s’s. She also has hoffman spec nitrons fitted along with an adjustable front arb. I’ve by no means pushed it yet but the impression after 1k miles is that its pretty well balanced, little or no understeer to speak of. I’ll know more once on track but I intend to use it on the road as much as the weather will allow.

I do have one question for you chaps. I assumed as there was no button to deactivate the traction control on the gear surround that it didnt have traction control at all. I have since seen a little flicker from the light on the dash on a few occasions, so my question is this: where the feck is the button to switch it off? I will want it on for normal road driving but would like to know for track days etc.

I’ll get some piccies up on the weekend when I’m back home.

Well done and get those pictures up, the TC button should be next to the gear stick on the and you just push and hold till the light comes on constantly.

There is no button next to the gear stick, thats why I thought it didnt have traction control.

Almost certain I saw the light flicker on the way to work, confused

John.

If it is an early S I think the TC only came as an option or with the touring pack. So it is possible you don’t have it.

Sorry, I should have put that its a 2007 s, but there is every poss that it doesnt have it I guess.

Check the level of the brake fluid

Well done and congratulations - I’d like to see photos too.

Has the centre tunnel been covered in leather etc and the switch not been put back in or left under it - as ade says, it should be next to the bottom of the gearstick, on the drivers side.

I take it you’ve got it then? I am at the mercy of the DVLA so haven’t got mine yet :frowning:

Centre tunnel has no leather and no sign of a button, I’ll assume it doesnt have tc and that I imagined the tc light coming on. I’ll test it fully on a damp day, only way to know I spose.

I’ve had the car for a weeka nd covered 1400 miles in it so far, what a toy! Goes like poo off a stick

Have you checked the brake fluid level yet?

Umm, not yet. Should I have? Or am I being slow?

There is a sensor (plunger) in the reservoir which sends a signal to the dash, when the fluid is “low”. You may well have induced this by “spirited cornering/acceleration”.

Ahhh thanks Mr Pesky, makes perfect sense now. It would have been under pretty hard acceleration hence me thinking it might have been trying to spin the wheels a little.

Pretty confident that will be the issue then, and that would point towards there not being tc fitted. All the more inpressed with the levels of grip in that case, especially considering its putting out around 300bhp. Damn I love this car more and more.

Now get it on track and you will never want to sell it, like most of us

Rub it in then!

Put that right for you

Put that right for you  [/quote]

Yep that’s reasonable

Gulp

Only me so far to have broken an S2 gearbox on here, don’t panic too much as it took 300hp to do it, or was it my driving?

Not too worried. Add another 80bhp and I guess there are bound to be some issues, if it goes so be it. I’m enjoying the extra power too much for it to bother me

What clutch are you running in yours ade? Mine is still the standard unit, feels a little squishy so not sure it will last that long on the road with the 300bhp. Again though, if it goes I’ll look into using whatever the 260 cars are running.

I am using an exedy one, seems to handle the power just fine
