Big bun fight.... Lotus 260 map

My RC 440s are maxed out at 270 as well

Neil.

I ran my 440s all the way through 300hp, it was only the change to the bigger bore manifold and exhaust that prompted the change to the 550s, I must admit they were on the edge at 300hp Wayne these days airs on the side of caution, when doing my car we were learning as we went.

Interesting…think mine on 440’s still.

Have to buy some more injectors when I go for the smaller pulley :frowning:

I’d hate to think what power my engine would generate with new injectors, smaller pulley and a charge cooler

loads, so do it but be warned theres no going back!

Just dug my spreadsheet out that calculates injector size - 440 is fine for 300bhp, just they are running at 85% duty cycle (80% recommended). 550s will be needed for 330bhp though.

Injectors and charge cooler don’t give you any more power though, they just allow you to run the smaller pulleys without running too hot and too lean with the higher tune. After all, the kantana used the same charger - Its really down to pulley choice for the power output. What size pulley do you run now?

Run standard 3.4" katana which is ~6 PSI of boost.

hi there new to the forum, well sort of I was a member about 10 years ago when i had an S1!

can the original poster please advise me how they routed the cable for the afr sensor ? as the stack afr sensor i have purchased only has aprox, 3m of cable and doesn’t reach to the gauge pod ago the gear stick, stack have advised that the cable should not be cut because of the sensitity of the gauge…

cheers

G.

Cable is run from the lambda up into engine bay and fed over drivers side arch liner behind side pod , then underneath sill trim ,finally up behind speaker trim panel to gauge which I have sited in the trinket tray wrapped in foam … no need to cut or lengthen the cable , but limited options for fitting elsewhere …

Excellent thanks for the info.

Hello gizmo75,

I have routed the afr sensor cable as follows:

 • from catalyst under gear box to small hole in the bulkhead for shift cables
 • through hole directly under the center console

Fits perfectly, shortest possible routing, fixing by cable straps on shift cables.

Due to the big connectors I had to cut the cable once. But no problem with that.

Best regards,
Thomas

*** UPDATE ***

My CN Exige S went to the Dyno again today to see what [color:#3333FF] difference fitting a 2Bular 4-1 + decat+ trackday chambered silencer has made against the standard Lotus manifold + cat + Lotus stage 3.
There have been [color:#FF0000] NO other changes to the car and the same Dyno was used.
The only variable is the atmospheric conditions (which were not favourable today … high humidity 80%) As such these figures are very conservative.

Results :
A [color:#33CC00] gain of 9.7 BHP Power
A [color:#33CC00] gain of 11.3 Lbft of Torque
The mixture was slightly [color:#FF0000]Rich ending up at 12

Sitting in the reinforced viewing room, the noise at 8800 rpm was [color:#3333FF] the best engine sound I have ever heard outside of F1…Seriously on another level. A truly wonderful howl… proper race car.

There you go : the Myths are busted !!

Here is the Video [color:#3366FF]Clicky Here …

Below you can clearly see the before and after runs…

Below you can clearly see no appreciable change in AFR readings…

The red line is the 1st run where the revs pinged on the limiter…

A continuation of this topic can be found Here … Clicky

So you don’t think the A/F in the 14-13/1 range between 3,500-7,000 rpm is bad…

Dude I think you should be looking for a new engine so the down time won’t keep you off the road too long … If someone is telling you that it’s ok, that someone wants to sell you a new engine in the near future…

The myth won’t be the only thing busted…

Cheers…

Frank … give it up dude . You are tripping up left right and centre .
The dark green AFR trace is much much richer than the pale trace …
And guess what? The pale trace is with the standard Lotus hardware…(manifold)

If you dispute the OEM map fine , you know best it seems. What do Lotus engineers know compared to you ???
But as all can now see… the combination of 4-1 and factory 260 map results in a richer trace .

Or did we get our dyno operator drunk just to prove our findings …Err…NO .

You are listening to fools and idiots if you think that is a good safe tune, you are the one I would believe to be drunk with the way you are going about this…

Lotus engneers…
Tell me how many of them make 597 BHP from a 1.8lt 2ZZ street driven car…?

You are in the soon to toast an engine load kill zone with those A/F’s and you are now on your own since you feel the fools you are dealing with know more about making power with the 2ZZ…

Boys and Girls do not follow this guy who is asking Ray Charles to do the driving while Stevey Wonder reads the road signs…

I told you so…

Well I am guessing everyone with a RGB, cup260 et al must be sat on the same time bomb as my AFR graph is almost the same as JFKs but finishes on 12.5.

Boothy

It’s mid winter wait till summer and book a replacement engine in the mean time…

Hey believe me or not I really don’t care but I hope there are guys reading this that would rather have a safe tune and engine, then one that only hits the proper A/F ratios under load at the last 500 rpm…

Lean dyno Queens make peak power and die on track…enjoy

STOP PRESS*

Lotus recall all 260 cars due to their chief engineer being drunk in charge of his laptop …

It was found that , in time , ALL factory 260 mapped cars had a terminal software issue … when the ambient temperature rises above -1 degrees the resulting simultaneous explosions will trigger a war between Britain and America … Good god I had a dream about this :slight_smile:

Frank I gotta love ya …but … sometimes dude you are like a poodle with the postmans leg … no letting go !@@!

I’m heading for the bunker on this one !!! :astonished:
