Avon ZZR

Which 1970’s detective movie did the soundtrack come from? :sunglasses:

Cheers lads, yes it was a bit of a laugh.

Yes JFK I am looking forward to having a sloppy diff, I was thinking at the time how much more of the time I could have been sideways if I’d had a diff

Lol Tim, 70’s car chase was exactly what I was aiming for, its actually quite contemporary from a band whose music is used a lot in TV.

Michael I was looking for your number but could not find it. We would have had a proper laugh if we’d out together with you in the yellow peril :sunglasses: The events are not listed in the main MSV website only on the EVO website…next time bud. Maybe we’ll have another go later this year…

Cool vid!!

I have completed two track days now with these tyres. You have to wait for them to warm up! they wont go around bends when cold! But once they are up to temp they are cracking tyres. in my opinion a good step up from the A048’s. I set the pressures front and back both at 31psi :unamused: as recommended by the Avon tech guy and once they warmed up felt no need to change the pressures from that setting on either day as the car was perfectly neutral with solid grip. With the A048’s you could feel them going off, these tyres out lasted me, i had a few long sessions without any deterioration in grip.

Brilliant tyres and comparatively cheap too.

Where do you get these from as i heard they are quite hard to get hold of?

Just follow this link and go to the contact page, then ask for the motorsport department and Bobs your uncle. :stuck_out_tongue: they deliver them to your door.

Wish we could get them in NZ :frowning:

What a great thread, write up and video, Benja!

That music WILL be chosen for the next Southern Comfort ad!

Nice one!

Mark

Had my 1st outing on the ZZR at Goodwood yesterday 31 psi all round when hot Dry warm day, what can I say, BRILLIANT
Got mine fitted at Avon in Melksham but you need to book a slot,
Speak to Chris Askew +44 (0) 1225 357314 or [email protected]

Phoned Avon last Thursday, arrived the next day by courier.

What’s the price for a full set delivered? How did they look after a trackday Phil?

Looked good Mark
As with any tyre make sure they are well scrubbed in before letting loose

With the dreaded VAT fitting and balancing, new stubby valves £570
But if you want them fitted at Avon in Melksham you need to take just the wheels.
They will not jack up your car there.

Benja!

Cool vid mate!!! Great driving (showboating!!) too! :sunglasses:

Looks to me like you also ‘double de-clutch’ on the downshifts?

Nice one!

I must say, despite my love of my VHPD, I do LOVE the power of the SC Honda!

Cheers Peter.

Yup double declutching, tbh I forced myself into always doing it and heel 'n toe on years and years ago and now don’t even think about it. I do it pootling around town in my S-Max  I realise its probably ultimately resumts jn slower shifts but instructors often comment that I’m pretty adept at it.

I’m so ham fisted with shifts, bang em in :frowning:

Ha!

I learnt to drive on a tractor!!! And then my first car was a 1962 Mini 850… (sliding windows and pull handles!!) and no synchro either! So like you, I double de-clutch all the time too… feels very odd when I do not!!!

Actually, how many on here ‘double de-clutch’???

Only If I’m going down a couple of gears not one …

no double declutching, but i find myself heel and toe in most manual cars i drive even around town.

I never would have guessed
