rumours on seloc and from other insurers that autotorque has gone into liquidation - emails to autotorque are unanswered and all the phone lines are dead - 0161 278 5226.
can anyone shed any light on the situation? my missus has a policy with them, and her sister is awaiting a claim through them…
apparently some policy holders have been getting phone calls over the past few weeks from Hagerty Insurance, to change contact details for policies sitting with them.
we’ve had no contact - could someone (russ? pesky?) give johno a buzz and let us know what is happening? the mobile number i have for johno is dead…
Thats a shame as I’ve been with Autotorque for years for both my Loti (now a Caterham) and my daily driver and never had anything other than good service
That said, this year the qoute on my Alfa doubled so I had to go elsewhere.
I got a letter from Heritage this morning telling me Autotorque are not representing them anymore
Coincidence ?
Also got a letter from Hagerty Insurance this morning, informing me that they have ceased all trading with Auto Torque and from now and until the end of the policy they will deal direct with myself. They say the policy will remain unaffected.
Well that answers my querie…was trying to get track cover for Friday .Will try Herritage direct in the morning.
Had lost Matts no at last renewal…credit squeeze
I renewed my insurance for my Exige two weeks ago with Autotorque, but have just received a phone call from the insurers (Aon) this afternoon to say that they had not received my renewal. The cost has been charged to my credit card, but not passed through to the insurers. Looks like I am going to have to pay again. (Good news is that the premium is 50 cheaper going direct).
I’m now trying to contact my credit card company to register a disputed charge and see if they can refund it, otherwise I will try the Financial Services Comnpensation Service on 2027 892 7300 which is detailed on my renewal quote from Autotorque.

Good job you paid with a credit card, just file a Section 75 refund, the CCard company insure against this loss.
I am still owed over 500 by Autotorque (Capital Insurance Services). I have not heard from them or received anything from them since the day they took my premium over the phone last August and then omitted to renew my policy with Hagerty! I had to stump up my policy again to insure direct with Hagerty (and, quite remarkably for 200 less than the Autotorque price!)
I have made claims against Autotorque through the FSA and Financial Ombudsman but have not yet received anything more than a holding reply.
According to the FSA, Autotorque are not yet listed as ‘in default’ so the FSCS can not yet pay out …
Yep I’m in pretty much the same situation as mr Rotorhead, even though I was onto what Autotorque were up to very soon after I paid them it’s made no difference.
The FSA have told me that any recovered funds will be used to pay off any debts to tax or other companies first then the customers if there’s any left over, but there’s a high chance I’ll be losing out.
In this case, I don’t think a brass farthing will be forthcoming for anyone - that’s probably why the Official Receiver is involved, not an insolvency practitioner
