Was at Bruntythorpe yesterday for the ASDA charity event ‘On Your Marks’. Some great cars there plus a good Lotus turnout. Saw 3 MRK1 Exiges…1 grey, 1 silver and 1 black with aftermarket spoiler…Must say the black one looked and sounded the bollocks going up the start straight…Made me wish I still had mine.
If anyone on here just wanted to thank you for your support as we couldn’t do it with out you…As you can gather I work for ASDA.
That would have been Martin/Steve Edwards (Grey) and Con in the black one, don’t know who was in the silver one?
I wanted to go but family commitments kept me in London…plus I don’t know if anyone would have wanted to come out with me after the lawn mowing incident a coupla years ago
As Ben said It was Me and my dad Martin with the Titanium Exige-R SC, Con with a similar car and the other guy was Chris with the silver 190 k-series also had Wayne Owen there with his Exige-R SC but unfortunatly he was feeling a but unwell and had to go early, we also had a good array of Elises and even and original 1968 Elan. We all had a fantastic day. Its ammasing how many people said “That was awesome, much better than the ferrari/lambo that I have just been in…you guys are nuts!!!”
You should of come over and said Hi, We could have taken you for a fast lap to get your Exige fix
The lotus Cars alone raised 1210 for the charities @ 5 a lap for the punters, so we had a really good day, Just need some new rear tyres now for next monday at Donny, Was hoping that the would last for both but go a bit carried away yesterday and fried them
Sounds like you boys had fun and were flying the flag - I spoke to your Dad at lunchtime and he said it was going well and that the Exiges were as ever quite popular Shame I could not be there,…ho hum looking forwards to seeing you out at Donny this time next week.
Cheers Ben, Yea we had a really good time Popular as ever, Maybe you can make it next year?
Even had some repeat customers from last year who said that they only came back to get another ride in the amasing Lotus’. One girl who came back for another lap said I was “totally nuts” last year and wanted another scary lap I managed not to disapoint, sideways through the chicane over took a Lambo “gay-hair-do” on the straight the coming out of the last bend I got a little over eager on the loud pedal and managed a full 360’ splin and ended up facing the right way again …my ears a still ringing from the screams she said it was very very cool.
Yea I know im just a big show off tart, but when they as for a scary lap…what else are you supposed to do
Yup, if they ask for scary you’re kind of duty bound…good effort.
Maybe next year and I’ll remember to recalibrate my brain to better accomodate braking distances at the end of the straight when carrying the heavier gentlemen.
Fantastic all…we thank you…Was due to go on track in the 6th Gear pit but couldn’t find my contact…and with two baby seats and a boot load of kids stuff with no where to put it probably best I didn’t…
Oh yes you raised 400 more than the Scooby lot…Not that I’m biase or anything.

Hi Andy - the black one was mine and like steve has already said we did have a top day. amazing how many people sat in the passenger seat and said "do you remember me from last year ? " - including a few boys from the megane owners club. The old exiges did the usual job of showing up some much more expensive machinery.
Quote of the day for me was from the bloke whose mate had just splashed best part of 50k on a new GTR with all the toys. Did cluckle to myself when he said he was going to tell him “that he’d just wasted 50k”
But as always with these things its the wishes for kids organised runs at luchtime with the terminally ill kids who get taken out for a quick blast around the track. Some of these kids are very poorly and it does pull on the old heart strings to see people so young with such challenges ahead. Very humbling.
But - its a great cause and I for one am glad to be involved.
Pesky. Na, no shorts but maybe it was my wet trainers that slipped off the brake peddal and onto the throttle that caused the spin
Andy, Cool glad we beat those scoobys with the fundraising and on the track you should have come over to see us, we had a couple of pit cars that were being used to dump “stuff” in.
I remember reading about this for the last couple of years, and I would love to go if you need more support. Can you send me an invite for next year, or can I PM you in say June 2010?

If any of you are interested in coming along next year then the best thing to do is to E-mail my dad, Martin on he organises all of the lotus car for the event. he can then get in touch with you closer to the time and see if you will be available to come.
would be good to have some more quick cars and drivers available to give some thrill rides. Con and myself ran non stop from 2.00pm till 5.00pm only stopping the cars to fill up with petrol. The demand was very high for our special cars once the word got round that they were faster and more crazy than the ferraris/Lambos.
[color:#000099]Skyline GTR - Immensely fast (156 indicated on the straight - would have been even faster but for…). Followed another Skyline (both 09 plates) who lost it and spun in the Chicane. We were 6ft from an 80mph collision
Rally Cars - Cracking fun
300 bhp Supercharged Atom - Bombastic. Stunning Acceleration. Sledgehammer Supercharger and 150mph down the straight.
300 BHP Supercharged Exige (reminded him at the start that he took me round last year which was the highlight of the day then) . Those Supercharged Exige Drivers give it the absolute beans. Nothing lapped there quicker today (imo). - Superb, Amazing, Incredible, Intoxicating. Thanked him at the end and he said see you next year then

[color:#FF6666]I hade a brilliant day.
I had a go in a GTR which was quick but it felt like the car wasn’t even batting an eyelid on that track lol.
Also an R33 which was ok, it had 450bhp.
Finally a Lotus Exige R, which had 280bhp and was the quickiest and most exhilarating thing i have ever experienced. It literally rippedyour face off! I was in a state of shock when i got out!
Overall a fantastic day, well worth the 5 to get in.
[color:#009900]i had a lap in the silver new '09 GT-R that was flying about - my god! what an experience! i cannot believe how much speed it can take through those corners and those brakes! wow!!
also had a go in the Exige-R - OMG the speed and brakes on that thing lol!! and a modded Skyline which were both fantastically quick and left me speechless but still loved the new GT-R the most - that driver was insane i cant believe it stayed on the track through the chicane haha!!

Yep everyone enjoyed them selves…Where else can you pay a fiver and have a ride in a Lambo/Ferrai/Viper/Lotus etc…
I know it’s a long way off but remind me closer to the day and I can get some invites to get into the event…For track you will need to get in touch with the link mentioned above…
I will have a CSL contigency next year there…or maybe even a Honda powered Exige…you never know.
