Que Gav. Thought he had man love for these.

Gav and myself both had the old B5 RS4 (twin turbo V6)… (which is where I know him from originally). They were great cars!
Funnily enough I changed my daily driver recently and was looking at a B7 RS4… but after a testdrive I didn’t feel the love unfortunately.
Great engine, great sound…but the interior felt dated to me, it was surprisingly similar to my old B5… I was quite disappointed as I really thought it was the car to replace my E46 M3.
I ended up with an E92 M3 which is a big step up from the old E46.
Great cars, but I’d be worried about being “car jacked”, or being threatened to hand over the keys/robbed at home.
Mate of mine bought an RS6 from the same year with about 40,000 on the clock in really immaculate condition for about 16k! And it was re-mapped to boost the output by 25%!!!
I wish I could afoord the fuel on my mielage…

Looks a little overpriced?? I’ll bet the running costs are horrific
Is this to sit alongside the S1 Steve?
I agree that age of A4 is quite bad for dash layout etc, I was looking for an A4 Avant 3.0 TDi and you really need the later shape not to feel like you are driving around in the 90’s. The A6 of the same era is a lot better car inside and actually for the big tdi engines they are cheaper
Well, the plan was/ is to have something interesting alongside the Exige.
I’ve always loved the RS Avants and hey seem affordable to me now.
19 mpg doesn’t sound too appealing but I’m very light footed
I’ve always liked the B7 RS4 and thought I would find a tidy one once the need for 3xfull size kids seats had passed. Never driven one though…
The whole carjacking thing is a definate turn-off but I think as they get longer in the tooth they’re less desirable and so the threat dissipates. I still reckon if I got one I’d rebadge it as a 1.9TDI
Dave did you go for the 4door E92?
Test drives cost nothing…go for it
I much prefer the older B5 twin turbo -
It looks better, there were only ever 400 imported into england so much rarer, being turbo the power is effortless and useable every day (slightest dab of the throttle and its like you have opened an enormous sail and a massive gust of wind sends you hurtling up the road).
The b7 is a good car but as Dave say the interior isnt much different to that of the b5 and although the engine is a stonker, the only place I can see you really getting the most out of it is on a track, I just think you’d draw too much attention to yourself revving it out to 8k on the road…
Providing you don’t cringe evrytime you have to put your hand in your pockets for brakes (1000 for fronts alone), tyres (1000 a set), feul (19mpg… You’ll be lucky) you’ll love it!!
No bud, went for the 2 door E92 (I think the 4 door is labelled E90?) as we’ve got the Allroad for ‘family’ duties…
Very impressed with it so far… it’s like a car with two personalities… much more refined than the E46 and easy to pootle along in… but then the V8 is a proper monster when you wind it up (and it sounds like it’s from the gods).
Never had a V8 before…they do make a lovely sound - if anything, the V8 RS4 actually sounds a bit nicer than a standard E92 M3.

Having been in the B7, I have to say, I’d probably rather have the older B5 even now… I suppose the B5 is still in my blood, but it’s a lovely looking car with SO much road presence… the later RS4s (even the B8 that has just come out) don’t have the same presence IMHO…
Isn’t space grey is it Dave? Was in Southport month ago and one went past (I was on foot).
Wish I hadn’t bought a Jerez black when I had one the grey looks way better.
Baseball bats, waited all day for me.
Funny I posted the other thread before reading this.

It is as it happens ! - not sure that would have been me though as I’ve only had it about 3 weeks.
You should have popped in for a coffee mate - welcome anytime you’re over this way.
Was a monday mate either 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Last minute trip booked my the mrs.
I’ll give you bell next time Dave
Loved my RS6 Avant, but being followed home in it, really made me think it wasn’t worth it. As soon as I told the wife, I knew it would have to go.
Test drove a B7 RS4 and the new B8 V6 S4 and didn’t really see what the fuss was about. The S4 was dull, great for motorways and the V6 does a good V8 impersonation but chassis only wanted to go straight on.
In the end got a E90 335i manual with the sportier suspension, did poke my head in a M3 but as Mrs Muu would be behind the wheel most of the time and I wanted the factory fit folding tow bar too.
