That looks like Veroniques next machine to me - OK for LoT as well!

Will be fine in LoT, just don’t expect to run it in class A
Bugger!
It is a standard road car though.
WOW! that car is going to look great!!
Forgive me but that is a piece of equiptment that I would give my S1 up for.(even swap of course )
I am happy to see this car.
Judging by the sketches the rear arches have been soved better than the Cadena cars from last year, the rear wing should not wobble and the removable front one piece clam is also good.
Power is also good, surprised the 2-11 did not get this configuration though. But i still imagine the 2-11 will be quicker over a lap and cheaper…but you would get wet if it rains
Stop pissing about with another slightly modified Exige and get on with developing cars that will save the business
Lotus desparately needs a new car (not another VX/Elise variant) to halt the slide. Then do a racing version of that one to help sell it.
And, maybe its just me, but doesnt the press brief sound a bit conceited, I mean innovative 3-D rear wing, I fail to see how you can possibly have a wing that isnt 3-D!
David
Most traditional car wing designs are essentially 2-D in design in the sense that the shape consists of a 2-D cross-sectional shape with the third dimension being nothing more than a straight line. They could almost be extrusions. It does seem a bit daft Lotus making a song-and-dance about it as all road going Exiges have had 3-D wings because they’re curved.
I’m looking forward to seeing this one. Yet another car I’ll no doubt want, but never own.
Arrghhh! I can’t believe nobody else has mentioned the overlapping panels on the sills. S1-style disintegrating panels, followed up with hastily bodged rubber edging strips, anybody?
Well I think it looks superb and if I happen to find 60k which has fallen down the back of my sofa tonight I will be in the queue Dream on…
Mark
Personally, I think it looks great. This is what the S2 should have looked like from day one, & fitted with 220bhp s/c Yota, pitched at around 37K. It would have then appealed to existing S1 owners.
Ah well, perhaps Veronique will let me have a drive

I agree with you that Lotus needs new cars. However, i do not think that this car is counter productive. It allows them to race (hopefully competitively) in GT Racing, and i believe that, that is very important for them. If they want new customers for their future models they need to be seen to be a serious contender in Motorsports. so in that respect i am happy to see it.
I am alsio happy to see that in the future my S can have 270 hp…
Any bets on how long before the clams are available for existing S2 owners ?
Agree the rear looks FAR better than the existing S2.

This would confirm what a lot of us have thought for a long time, Proton have stopped funding Lotus and the only way Lotus can afford to bring the Esprit replacement on stream is to raise the money it’s self hence the Exige GT3 concept road/track car.
There would appear to be some annomolies on some of the earilier posts last years Cadena British GT car was a 4 pot engine, the rear 17" wheels are 10J (wide).
This latest Exige weighs in at less than the ton (approx 980kg’s) the 3.9 estimate 0-60 is the same as the 2-Eleven which weighs about 650kg.
I want to see the new Esprit rolling off the production line more than most, however i also appreciate in the (automotive) cliamate that we live in that Lotus needs us to upgrade or move to these latest offerings more now than ever, and as we keep being reminded in other posts Porsche have used the same basic car design since god knows when.
I recollect when MJK retook the CEO at Lotus saying he wanted more types/derivatives of the Elise, so we were warned!
So as the old pun goes if you’ve got a good (car) design why change it if it is ent broke.
rant over,
Darryl
My exige S with a full tank weighs 928kg…and it has AC.
It would still never do the quoted figures though…
The GT3 is not the financial saviour to provide funds for the Esprit, or whatever new models they want to produce. It will only be sold in minimal numbers - primarily, because there is only a tiny market for it, & secondly there is a limit to the number of cars that a manfacturer can make for SVA, rather than full type approval.
Each of the GT3s made should not be a drain on the company’s resources - unlike the Europa disaster (a facelifted version also launched at Geneva)!
It will be an “aspirational” model, which in reality very few people will end up owning. It should help promote sales of the existing range of Exiges & Elises, as should another sucessful season’s racing by Lotus Sport Cadena.
Amen!
The much wider foot print of this car will allow it to corner so much faster and with a tad more power this will slaughter the Exige S on a track IMHO
Regardless of the the rights or wrongs of the car, i think it looks pretty smart in the graphic piccys, in the photos the rear wheels dont look quite right
I think it is prob a good pointer in how the exige styling may progress , may i say S3 ?
Arrghhh! I can’t believe nobody else has mentioned the overlapping panels on the sills. S1-style disintegrating panels, followed up with hastily bodged rubber edging strips, anybody?
but this one comes with front mudflaps as standard…
I think you’re missing the point - those performance figures mean jack $hit in reality. Take a look at the full spec, & then consider lap times, not meaningless straightline stuff Also, think about who the car is aimed at
Okey dokey, let’s cut to the chase! To compete in GT3, the Cadena cars have to be based on an “homologated” model - hence the car announced today.
Just a reminder from yesterday…
