50k 60k !!!

And look at the performance figures 0-100 just 0.18 seconds faster than an Exige S, for 25k more!!!

I dont think people will be pissed off Mr P, just plain confused.

Holy moly!

I think you’re missing the point - those performance figures mean jack $hit in reality. Take a look at the full spec, & then consider lap times, not meaningless straightline stuff Also, think about who the car is aimed at

have i missed something? is this exige supposed to be the plug for the gap lotus has delayed the esprit for?

although i dont think i’d ever buy one i would like to see one and have a poke!

Ok, so they have tweaked the exterior a bit, stuck on some big brakes and played with the setup a touch (and, granted, also made it more play with-able), but come on, its still a hell of a lot of money.

And, maybe its just me, but doesnt the press brief sound a bit conceited, I mean innovative 3-D rear wing, I fail to see how you can possibly have a wing that isnt 3-D!

And on top of that, a few quick calculations mean that a car with 275bhp would have to weigh more than a ton, thats the most extreme lotus to date, and it weighs more than a Morgan, and theyre built out of bloody wood, it just doesnt seem quite right, but, we shall see…

David

can you get to the pictures ?

I think you’re understating it a bit, David, & don’t forget the 10" rear wheels

Yeah, it is a lot of money, but then again, so was the 46K paid the “lucky” 50, who bought the 240R when it came out

At the end of the day, we’ll have to see it when it actually emerges, & what price the factory will pitch it at. No doubt they’ll gauge the response generated by “serious” enquiries & firm orders, then tweak the price accordingly. Don’t worry, I will not be in the queue

Ok, maybe a bit , but Ill tell you one thing, I cant wait to see it…

David

PS. Dont forget Mr P, it aint size that really matters .

I’m getting a tad confused by some of the latest offerings from Lotus.

Deriving this kind of performance by going down the ‘extreme’ route is the wrong direction IMHO, & isn’t what the heritage of the company is about. If it were track only then fair enough…but its hardly a genuine road car is it, its way too compromised

For road use it needs a bigger powerplant & more refinement, whilst retaining the same sort of performance. Maybe then it would be worth 50K & attract a few more punters.

What happened to the modest power + lightweight = great performance (for a reasonable outlay) formula

Okey dokey, let’s cut to the chase!

To compete in GT3, the Cadena cars have to be based on an “homologated” model - hence the car announced today.

Dont homolagated cars have to use a similar power plant to their race trim cousins, cause surely the Cadena cars use V6s?

Its probably not the case, but either way, the sketches look pretty decent.

David

I assume you mean they are going to build new race cars based on this one?

You may say that, I couldn’t possibly comment

You been on the shandy, young man?

at least I can drink a pint without having to get up to piss .

:stuck_out_tongue: at least I can drink a pint without having to get up to piss .

But you do fall over quite a lot, coupled with a tendency to exaggerate about the configuration of yer engine

But you do fall over quite a lot…

Well, luckily for you, you have a “low centre of gravity”, so really its a bit of an unfair advantage on that front .

It would have been nice if this was THE S2 from the start … just with a smaller price tag!
