Anglesey today!

What a day !

Well worth the round trip …

Great to meet old and new faces, experience really perfect driving weather on a fabulous circuit … with peeps who knew what track day driving was all about

Sorry to hear about the mechanical issues … I joined Green Flag specially … what does that tell you

Will I agree, 790miles in one weekend was a lot but such a great track well worth 10% of my limited mileage policy

Just beat that, over 900 miles round trip from Aberdeen (plus a couple of hunderd on track). Still worth it though.
Saturday was a long day, 80 miles from Chester to the circuit, 200 or so on track (plus fuel run) then the 450 mile treck home…about 750 total for the day.
Still couldn’t sleep when I got home…

Changed that - thanks ) they aint so exciting though …

Well just got home and echo what people have already said.

Thanks to Rob for sorting it out and everyone else for making the day soooooo enjoyable. Curry was spot on too so thanks to Damon for sorting that.

Some top driving - enjoyed playing with the 2-11 (whoever driving it was fairly handy & was pretty mega on the brakes! ) and with Dave P once he’d got the car sorted.

Only issue for me was that I was enjoying the track so much I didn’t get a chance to chat with as many people as I would have wanted to.

But in summary…

Top day, top cars, top circuit, top weather, top people. enough said !

sounds like a good day you all had. glad you got onto track for first time mark (jabbs)hows my baby running.does it need a detail now? started up doing car detailing /valeting hoping it works out as enjoy doing it. rob [/quote]

Rob, good to hear from you, yep car is fine really enjoyed my first time on track with it
Think i will be booking for Oulton in October this week
Hope the new venture works out for you.

1st one is still private, the second is not.

Echo, everything said the day was mega, track was fab.

I landed at 8.30 all ready to go in my Elise, after not having turned a wheel since a complete build from the tub upwards. I was first out on the sighting laps with two corners in I had serious miss fire , after dropping a gear to try and make it clear, it gets worse, ah! Thatll be the traction control that we’ve not had time to set up , a flick of the switch and it clears: I guess I wont need it anyway with 160bhp in the dry .

The time comes to try it out in anger , first lap feels good but the brakes need bedding in and the tyres dont feel good! Four laps in and starting to pick the pace up but the tyres are horrid so I decide to come in and check them.

Pressures are right, but I think they might have gone a little hard; the date stamp says 2003 , hmmm!! oh well, lesson learnt.

Second session I let my pal Phil out in the car, he’s not driven one on circuit before, after about ten laps he comes in with a big smile and asks me to find him one immediately.

We give the car a quick check over and I go out for a while, it feels better and better with each lap, as I gain more confidence as the morning goes by. Phil has another shot then I hand it over to Andy Dolan, Elise trophy regular for analysis, he settles in the car and promises to return it in one piece ! This from the guy that kept me busy all last year repairing his race car was not confidence inspiring, but I value his opinion as the most mechanically unsympathetic person I have ever met .

The laps roll by as we watch him drift round, on to the start finish straight on every lap! After what seems like thirty minutes I start to think he may have to do a drive by refill. Yep thats Andy .

He finally rounds the corner in to the pits and stops to tell me how it went, whats that? the alternator light is on, oh! I hadnt noticed that, no s**t! we lift the bonnet to investigate and see that the main live feed for the alternator has fractured! A quick repair and were back out again, but after half a lap the car fills with smoke nooooooo , at least the fire extinguisher is armed and ready to go, we trundle back to the pits and have a look, but the alternator is fried ! Game over!

Oh well its lunch time now, all in all I was more than pleased with car, it shows real potential.

The rest of the day was spent catching up and abusing Als, Stus and Andys cars.

Thanks for a great day Rob, roll on the next one.

Yep totally great day, thanks Rob and thanks D for sorting the curry! Good to see everyone familiar faces and new…

Finally got into my car after being locked out when a nice biker fellow lent me a 2 metre thin metal rod to reset the CarTech button on the dash poked between the window and door seal. I can only guess it must of been sticky fingers possibly one of the children walking around the car park but still all’s well that end’s well, just need to devise a way to unlock the car the next time the isolator activates Thanks to all those who helped btw cheers guys

Who had the Green S2S think the plate was ?? LOT, ding donged with him most of the day and S1EXG…great stuff

Unfortunatley all was not well for my mate and his Nissan Navara which some of you might of seen just down the road from the track towards the A55. A nice young lad taking his girlfriend and parents home from having dinner pulled out in front Dave who hit the lads Vectra followed by the wall before rolling onto it’s side. Both cars were right offs, the Navara was a real mess. Thanks for stopping Pete

Looking forward to the mini meet in October…

Marc

That car is so well prep’d it will be a shame to rub up against some of Norfolk’s mustard yellow best!

Good luck.

Damon

Well guess I win the prize for last one home. Much the same drive as Mr Crozier, but a bit slower (as always) due to the trailer.

As already said big thanks to Unkle P for organising the day. Had a great day, as usual the Exiges day never disappoints. Struggled with the track in the morning (really must learn layout of the track in future) but really enjoyed it in the afternoon (sorry if I held anybody up).

Great to meet folks old & new, top way to spend an Easter weekend.

Wallsy

Well, I now have to some investigating to do, I’m not sure when it failed, but my charge cooler pump is no longer with us, was it the way there on track or the way home I’m not sure. I will look when I can and I want to book Oulton, no idea where it is though? Anyone know of accomadation round there as I think it is a long way from Essex
Roll on October! and maybe Spa in July Jonny PM me the details

S1EXG that’ll me Jonny - great few laps those

Was great to back in an Exige and to do another Exiges track day after missing the last 2. Big thanks to Rob for organising the day and the B&B which was 1st class. Huge thanks to Martin Edwards for sorting my brakes after the morning session after running out of stopping power. (dealer serviced only 2 weeks ago should be OK for 1 track day ??)
Great Track, Great Weather, Great company

Great to see you again Steve - glad to see you back in a Lotus !

What a fantastic day! Well done Mr P3SKY! My first time at an Exiges event and it was great to meet up with so many decent folk!

I had to finish early as the car developed an engine oil leak, when we got home & took the gearbox off, the clutch release bearing was completely knackered (3000 miles only!) which had caused the rear crank oil seal to go! So now I’m trying to get that fixed!

Good to meet up with Tim at the Bull as well.

Cheers

Mark

Cheers Mark is was good to meet up. Is your mate (Ron?) gonna take the plunge then & get an Exige

Another thanks to Rob.

Sorry i didn’t make the curry, i was late arriving in Bangor after a favour to hang a couple of doors on a Trans Am down in Leicester turned into a bigger job than expected, they used a lot of metal in those things…

I had a very good, if very busy day on saturday. The brilliant dry weather (i’ve never known it be so nice over there, with no real wind) finished off my rears by midday so i had make a trip down to bangor to a tyre fitter. All done and the car was ready by 3, i had a couple of friends turn up for a few passenger rides and then before i knew it it was was getting close to closing. The new layout is great, loads of room. Hppefully i’ll be able to spend some more time there soon.

Thanks also to the polite folks out toward the end of the day when my girlfriend took the car out. It was her first time driving the exige and on track so there was quite a bit for her to take in, hopefully we didn’t get in the way too much.

Also, I’m sorry i didn’t get much chance to chat, hopefully next time
